Just upgraded the guy to a Sony OLED and I’ve got this thing. Looks as beautiful in 1080i as it did the day it was new. I think I’ll cry if I have to take it to the recycle place. I’d use it at home but just too dang heavy. I can move it by myself a couple feet at a time But it a rough on the back.

If it still works and looks good, donate it. There are plenty of people out there watching really $hit televisions - and many smaller than 60" too.
Would be awesome for this to find a home somewhere for someone that is not as well off.

Story: 2+ years ago I installed a new Sony 65" HDR TV for a customer. Replaced his 50" Pioneer plasma I had sold him a longtime ago. TV still worked fine.
I helped him deliver it and setup for a young couple, that was watching a Sanyo 46"?ish TV. This was a nice upgrade for them.

In a couple weeks we will be replacing a Pioneer Plasma for a customer. The Pioneer is already promised to the cleaning lady.

In high rise buildings there is usually a trade person who will love the Plasma -- and make it disappear. In my area it is difficult to recycle any sort of TV. I'm sometimes wondering if I should leave them in the back of a truck over night. The big risk would be that the new owner will damage the truck while removing the TV.

I've been pulling out all kinds of old plasma's over the past year.  Everyone in my neighborhood now has garage TV's.

Yeah similar situation here. It would sure be easier to give them away if people would keep their stands!

I will be replacing a 60" Kuro in the coming weeks as well. I will probably end up lugging it to my house to replace a 55" Panny plasma. But I will try and pawn it off to the building maintenance guy at the condo it is coming from. He probably needs it in his office. I do not really want to move it at all, let alone carefully. :P

i got 2 50" runco/vidikron that i still rock, they are in the guest bedrooms. still beautiful images.

Years ago when I had employees..We used to take the old broken TVs and turn them into coffee tables.  We'd screw legs into the mount holes and voila!  Bad ass coffee table.

We'd remove the panel so you could see all the boards, etc...Then put led strip lights around the edge and light it up.  They were great conversation pieces.

Same, but hooked up cheap retro video games (ms. Pac-man etc) to them. Cool sit down video game.

Can't usually seell them no matter how little you ask, and I haven's even been able to give away the last two because of no stands.

I have a 42 Panasonic on the wall in the garage, and a 55 in a box just sitting there in the way.


The only thing I haven't tried yet is to see if someone wants to trade something for one of these things.

20 years ago i installed a Fujitsu 42" in a clients bedroom. 10 years ago he upgraded it and was happy for me to take it.
$120 for a floor stand it could mount to with a couple of shelves underneath from ebay and my Mum is still happily using it today.

It will probably outlive the Samsung 9 series i recently bought.

I recently moved cross country and moved three TV's from my storage unit to my apartment trash dumpster area and they found new homes in less than three hours.
No power cords or remotes.
I kept my Panny and LG plasmas one of which will be my garage TV if I can stand the reflected image of the garage on the screen.

I gave a 50" Fujitsu to someone who lived in a trailer and he was upgrading from a 32" cheap LCD. He went back to the LCD after seeing his power bill go up by $20 a month.

Hey in the winter he can heat the house with it.
