So we haven't been buying much from Avad/ Wave but a little bit. Had some returns and now $500.00 credit. Figured I'd use it with some gear.
Tried some Ubiquiti- No stock
Tried some conduit for a prewire- No stock on most of what I needed. Ordered a few things and went to will call. The place was a ghost town compared to the past. Showroom was dismantled, only one other guy at will call.
Started looking around and they're "out of stock" on A LOT of stuff.
My question, are they going to be around much longer? or is it just this branch (Van Nuys, CA) Avad headquarters at one point.

I didn’t think it could get much worse from avad, and was kind of excited since I had heard so many good things from guys that use wave........oooof, it’s even worse now, and you know it took skill to make it even worse then it was before. I literally only used them for frame TVs and now I’m using a disty in Arizona to full fill that.

Called them about a week ago as my regular Marantz supplier was out of stock on NR. They didn’t have a single AVR in stock and nothing planned until August. LOL

Covid has hit everyone hard. I would not judge too harshly. I called around to look for Ubuiquiti and everyone is out of stock til mid July.

Wave by me the showroom has been closed for months. We have been picking up from the loading dock
The inventory is absolutely horrible. It’s not entirely their fault though as the inventory chain is basically broken

I loved my AVAD branch in AZ, the guys there were awesome. Wave has some great guys but the issues that were going on during the transition were pretty bad.

They are discontinuing their relationship with Ubiquiti from what I was told. Reason given was due to availability issues with gear from Ubiquiti themselves, which I have experienced before but I have well over 100 properties with Ubiquiti now so them dumping the brand is a problem for me. Stock has been an issue with several people for Sonos, even if you are direct with Sonos, they have been on back order for certain units for a while.

A lot of AV parts and pieces are from China and as well all know the global supply chain has been disrupted by Covid and we are starting to see that come about as the parts that were in stock are being depleted now we will have to wait for a while for things to catch back up.

Don't hold your breath... October / November is when things could get back to 'normal' for stock, it doesn't matter where you're buying from!
This industry is not getting cheaper and cheaper, we're simply convincing ourselves that we have to push the cheapest option to customers.

AVR's will be tough from any supplier.

Why?

Well, several things. Last year, Sound United (parent of Denon/Marantz) announced they were buying Onkyo. Onkyo includes Integra, Pioneer, Pioneer Elite and Teac. Deal fell through for some reason, but not until Onkyo had adjusted production of products down, assuming that Sound United would take over that aspect at a specified time.

The deal fell through, and Onkyo + others did not have enough stuff coming in. Then Chinese New Year/Covid hits. So all of a sudden more demand then anticipated for other brands, and parts availability is tough.

So AVR's will be difficult from most brands as a result. Best advice: get paid for product and order immediately. Let customer know of time issues at time of proposal.

Come on Fred. Don't hold back. Lol, Share with us what Brent should do! I'm guessing it might have something to do with self fornicating? Or maybe I'm way off base and you were going to tell him to drive his Miata off a cliff.
Chasing Ernie's post count, one useless post at a time.

I’ve bumped up telling clients 8-12 weeks. Surprisingly most have been receptive and ok with it. “Sign of the times”
