Ok, i am looking at a dvd recorder. This is the website that its at. "[Link: walmart.com]"
(If there is no link, just add the addrees into the address bar)
There is an RF tuner on the back. My question is this: Is that like the tuner on a VCR?
Any comments would be helpfull :-)

Yes! Looks like one can tune to say channel 23. Not a bad price for all the options for a basic DVD recorder.

Wait, What? The Highest channel I get( off air is the only thing I get) is channel 50 otherwise known as UPN. All I want to know is if that tuner is like a vcr and will it cover all the channels I get?

PRESUMABLY it will tune both cable channels and off-air channels.

Presumably.

That's what I thought when I saw the Sony TiVo, the something or other 2000, about four years ago. Turns out that it did not have a tuner at all. It simply passed cable or antenna through from in to out, or supplied the TiVo signal on channel 3. Maybe that is what this one does.

The only clue you have at all is that the remote control has channel up and channel down buttons. In the time (about seven seconds) I have devoted to figuring this out, I can't IMAGINE why there would be channel up and down if the darn thing does not tune in TV channels!
A good answer is easier with a clear question giving the make and model of everything.

They are junk, for $132, are you kidding me. It might work for a few months.

My boss turned one down for repair. The customer had purchased it a Walmart, and 17 days later, it would not read the disc. The old saying, you get what you pay for. The optics in the unit are going to be very low quality, with no varister protecting it. the operation on the "low end" units are also quit cumbersome. I have a few years in electonics repair, and the low end DVD products are terrible for maintinance.

At $132 for a DVD recorder, It would be considered disposable. If it breaks, don't get mad, just buy another one. Sam will surely appreciate your loyalty.

JEEZ! I would have thought it would be at least a couple of years before someone distributed dissposable DVD recorders!

Are they a "hook and hang" item next to the B.I.C. lighters at the checkout lanes?

I'm willing to bet that you can only find them at the "HD Home Theater" counter.

But you'll need a monster cable to get the full PQ and audio satisfaction from this device... Only a matter of time and walmart will be selling monster...
