I got the "format 6122" and the 00ff and 05 and 06 from an IR code reader, which displays the IR code received.
I am trying to use the box Caledon RCV5000 which converts IR to rs232 - being used to control the Datasat RS20i audio processor (I can't believe that it does not have IR control! What a dumb thing to do, to not give IR capability. Their lower model, the LS10, which I have has IR capability but not the higher end LS 20i - Go figure! Someone was making big bucks salary, to make this wonderful decision to exclude IR for a $20,000 processor but include in the $10k processor!
[Link: celadon.com]The Caledon RCV5000 came with a generic remote called SC-45 and I am trying to use the volume control 5=up and 6=down for this device. It is an IR to RS232 device. 5 function by their definition is supposed to move vol up by .5 db. It is not expected to move the volume up continually but this exercise is to make it move up/down continually.
I am trying to use the URC mx 780 with CCP. When I did the "learn function", taught the IR codes from SC-45 to my mx 780 via CCP, the vol up/down (5/6) does work but only in septs of .5. I hold the up vol button down and I am pointing it at a IR code reader, the code reader beeps that it is continuously receiving the signal but the RCV5000's "IR received confirmation/acknowledgement LED" flashes only once.. Even when I press the 5 button on the remote supplied by Caledon - the SC45 - the sc45 is sending continous signal as confirmed by the IR code reader but again, the "IR received confirmation/acknowledgement LED" on the RCV 5000 does not flash giving feed back of acknowledgement of IR received.
I was hoping that by using the Hex code you gave me, and my MX 780, the MX 780 will emit the entire signal repeatedly.. The button 5 workd but not button 6 with the two hex codes you gave me.. Anyway, even though button 5 code Vol up in the MX 780, coded with the hex code you generated is working, it moves vol up only by 0.5 db and I have to release and press repeatedly to make it move up continually.. Holding it down, even with after teaching with this hex code for 5 didn't make any difference
I don't understand the difference between press/release/press VS continous press of button 5 - what's the difference in the IR code being sent out between the two operations? Is a certain portion of the code not sent, when you hold the button down?
I got the two numbers I gave you, using the SC45 remote supplied by Caledon and a IR code reader.
Thank you for your kind effort to help me. I don't know why 5 worked and 6 did not. I do get "ir received acknowledgement light flash" when I press 6 but it does not perform the vol -0.5 function.. Frankly, I don't need the 6 anymore.. because using the Hex code did not help me with my hope that I can hold the button down for continuous vol movement.
Thanks again for your kind help.

where did you find the info that you posted? can you post the document? I'm not sure what "Format 6122" is supposed to mean.
