Just swap the network for something that this can be done the right way, because keeping this client should be VERY expensive for them or time for you to move on. I'm starting to charge a crazy person tax, and so should you.

Agreed.

Put all the WAP’s on the same POE switch, and kill power to that switch when you need to shut off the WiFi.

It all depends on the device. Most networking equipment is NOT going to be auto updating. It only updates when you tell it to.
So this would only be a danger for equipment that for whatever reason, the manufacture decided it knows best and are going to control when & how the device gets updates. This would probably mostly involve IoT devices.
But Eero is an IoT device as much as a network device. Not sure if updates on it are controlled or not.

Auto updates.

thanks for the input fellas - I know the request is absurd but I promised customer an answer. this is an old condo with NO wire in place and to hard-wire would be prohibitively expensive. Considering just putting the eeros on smart switches (plugs) and put in writing that there are issues that may arise.

Being somewhat of a control freak and concerned about this kludge surviving a power failure, I was thinking BSR10. A modern incarnation of BSR-10 is Caséta.

There is no WiFi and you can control switched outlets locally, from online, and by schedule.

First, unplug all the Eero, then use a WiFi scanner, and show them all their neighbor signals that are penetrating into their condo.

Trying to show the customer that they are stupid is rarely a good way to go.

The cellphones are probably turned OFF at night.

Wow. This has NEVER occurred to me and I've used cell phones forever. Perhaps it's because I use mine as an alarm....

At one point there was an alarm over pregnancy, CRT terminals, and miscarriages. There was an immediate assumption about radiation, but eventually it was figured out that long periods of bad posture in the steno pool was the cause. It is true that there is potential for a poorly designed or defective CRT drive circuit to generate x-rays. The acceleration voltage is near the lowest potential that will result in x-ray generation ("ionizing" radiation). This is why CRT's have a high lead content in the front glass.

But wait a minute -- isn't lead poisonous?

Another big scandal started in Denver after a social worker observed that there was a unusual number of childhood leukemia cases and most of the sick children lived next to a power line transformer. Therefore it was claimed that transformers cause leukemia. World wide no one else could confirm this observation. Years later it was discovered that all of these kids lived on the wrong side of the tracks and air pollution was much higher in this area.

There's an old saying, "never ascribe to evil intentions anything that can be explained by stupidity." A similar thing might be written along the lines of "never blame something that you suspect until you have investigated EVERY DAMN THING."

Showing them that there are myriad signals other than their own does not have to be done in a manner that calls them idiots. You might not convince them, but if they have lived there for any period of time before installing the EEROs, you can honestly tell them that the addition of the EEROs has made hardly any difference in the amount of signals in the air.

By the way, how does "electromotive force," which is basically voltage, have ANYTHING to do with this? EMF exists between the terminals of a disconnected battery! (and speaking of batteries, doesn't the lead and the acid of lead-acid batteries bother these folks?)
A good answer is easier with a clear question giving the make and model of everything.

Years ago I worked for a small PC repair company. We had this customer that complained that her computer was emitting radiation and she was afraid she was gonna die. So the boss grabbed a couple of us and some gear and headed out there. I instructed us to just stay quiet and look very serious. He tells her he will test for radiation to show see if she is safe. He waved a wand around and shows her on the meter the levels stays at 0. The wand was a meat thermometer. The meter was an analog voltage meter. He just held the wire to the meter in his hand so it looked like it was connected. She was very happy to learn the computer was not going to kill her.
