Hi guys, I'm really stuck with this one. I have a TeledoorBell (door bell system/intercom with built - in camera) system with a dry contact running to my 590-10. This device (when it works OK) is a programable controller that initiates infrared commands:
It turns on my customers TV, puts it on the the right input, and after 30 seconds flips it back to normal TV. It also switches the input on a receiver (in an other room where there is a projector). EVERYTHING WORKS FINE.
BUT ... after a 1 hour, sometimes a day or 2 , the 590-10 looses it memory. It does not emit IR. I am using Xantech 782-00 regulated power supply. Xantech emitters. 791-44 CONNECTING BLOCK. I have grounded the case of the 590-10. I put the 590-10 on a Panamax power bar incase there were spikes on the AC line. I've called Xantech support 3 times and nothing works. I've changed the unit twice. I've moved the unit in an other location, (further from the 3 - 200A electrical boards) still no fix. All I have to do to get the system running is plug my laptop, upload the sequence and all is OK, for a few hours that is. And Yes I do put the switch on the 590-10 back to PROTECT. Also I have tried using an external power supply (instead of the 12 volts on the 590-10 to trigger) By the way I am using bank no. 16 since this is a momentary trigger. Also tried bank 1 to 5.
If someone that has worked with this unit, and has any ideas (other than using a Xantech URC2 with some kind of mecanism to push on a button to do my sequence)PLEASE answer me!!! Thanks a lot.

New custom installer, in desperate need of help.

THANK-YOU!

Just to rule out power failure, I'd try temporarily connecting a small UPS to power it.

The memory on the unit it supposed to be non-volatile. I have simulated power failures by pluging the power supply in and out rapidly and slowly, and the unit works fine...

It sounds like you've already gone thru ever possible scenario, except for maybe small spikes coming in from the door/tele input, but that wouldn't make any since how it could effect it. Maybe possible??? - You could disconnect the trigger for a day or 2 and then manually trip the 590-10 and see if it's still programmed.

The next step I would do:
You mentioned you have swaped it out a few times. Take one of the old ones (or if you don't still have them, get the one in the install) and set-up a test area at your shop. Duplicate the conditions & hook-up as close as you can. If it does it at the shop, then you know for sure it's an equipment problem. Ship the set-up to Xantech and let them figure it out. (or if you've got plenty of time, you could try to iron out the bug)
If it won't do it at the shop, start taking a look around where the equipment is installed. Something at the house would have to be causing it. Look critically at any wire that enters the set-up and isolate. Look for possible near-by problems (stray magnitic fields could screw with the chip maybe), anything.

Is there some kind of voltage on the doorbell wire? Don't know how that could effect anything, but it's the only thing I don't see on your list of troubleshooting...

Thank-you very much for you replies, but to answer djnorm, no there is no voltage coming from the doorbell wire. I'm at the point were I will replicate the same setup in my store, and see what happens. Thanks again!
