Currently in an empty church, an HDMI cable is running across the floor to the sound booth in the back.

Later will want a camera, maybe wall mounted near the sound booth. What sort of camera could provide an HDMI feed and give a sharp picture at about 50’ away?

Tom, depends on what you want. My favorite supplier carries Vaddio, and they make a number of fine options, as well as black boxes that allow you to insert audio from the mixing board and stream online through facebook, youtube, or a link off your clients web site.
