I have installed 1 Infocus projector. It lasted about 2 months sent it in for repair. Now the company is shutdown for 2 weeks and wont send out repairs. Is this a common problem with this company? I can understand inventory but not sending out repaired warrenty items.

They usually have very good tech support and are usually very fair and fast with all RA's and repairs. And since the LS110 disappeared, their track record, with me anyway, has been just fine.

The inventory thing isn't very customer friendly, but I guess when 1 out of every 3 projectors in the world is yours, your inventory may take a little longer than others.

And since Ernie won't keep count, I will. Hes up to 249, and counting.

I have not had issues with In Focus. What model projector is it? Maybe we can help.

The projector is the 7205. The bulb would try to strike several times and then a blue screen then red then green very fast almost like you could see the color wheel. Then it would go into stand by and try to strike again. The teck said Huh, and please send it in. So i did. Any thoughts? I did have a spare bulb but that was not the problem or could it be the firmware.

Sometimes in transit the bulb assembly may become unseated. They should have had you remove and reinstall the assembly. Did you run through any other trouble shooting before you sent it to them? I do not have a ScreenPlay 7205 in stock. Sorry, I could not help with that.

We have had about a 90% failrure rate within a year on infocus projectors. Color Wheels, premature bulb failure, AV switching board failure. I have two in the field that have not been serviced yeat, with probably a total of 25 out there. We recently switched to Sharp and SIM2.

Be careful with Sim2 as the're not the most reliable projectors either

Sharp and Optoma I have had no probs with.

I have heard of probelms in the past by SIM2 but it was a problem with a part that they used from another company. Supposdily they changed manufacturers and their problems have been fixed.

Keep one fact in mind if you choose an Optoma projector. It's serial protocol will only sort of work. You will have to reverse engineer it and it has no working on code. Not that a discrete power on code is of any use to anyone in our business but it is more important than picture quality but not as important as reliability.

I am told new medels have a new protocol that I have not had the honor of dealing with. Even better when the only tech you can speak with about the problem speaks English as intelligablly as I do chinese--or about half as well as I can spell.

One week ago I had to return brand new 7205 - it did not want to show start up screen (three red flashes)-deffective bulb+fan (all in one module), the other one was fine. Rob

It's an Infocus projector with a Knoll badge on it.
Supposedly, the one difference is Knoll calibrates the greyscale before shipment (at least that's what a rep has told me)

1) For the extra money Knoll charges for the same Infocus piece, I can charge a full calibration to the customer, not just greyscale.
2) Calibrating at the factory isn't going to be completely accurate if your not doing it on the projection surface (screen) it's to be used on.
