I've been working on a project for a couple of weeks.

The customer has a Da-Lite Advantage screen installed when I arrived. I usually use Stewart screens, so I'm not real familiar with Da-Lite.

Anyway, I'm down to a few minor little things left in the system and I would like to install a 12V trigger from the projector. At this point, I have not looked at the access panel, but I did look at Da-Lites site, it seems to me that the 12V trigger is an option on the screen.

If the customer didn't pay for this option how can I get the 12V trigger to work.

It's not something he's expecting I would just like to throw it in as a bonus. These are those customers that only come around once every couple of years. They actually bought me a Christmas present.

Use the Xantech CC12. Works as a 12v trigger by remote control. You have to have the MRC460 software and the RC68 programmer to make this work. Any questions email me.

You also have to supply 120 volts to two wires to lower the screen, then 120 volts to the same neutral but a different hot wire to raise it. That means that your CC12 will be handling 120VAC, which may not be (safe or) legal in your area.

Get the serial number from the screen and call Da-Lite. While they are sometimes numb, they could probably tell you what you need to know about how to do this safely. You might have to buy one of their control circuits to guarantee compliance. You can definitely make it work with the CC12; it's just a question of how litigious these clients will be with your bonus work if something else in the house starts a fire.
A good answer is easier with a clear question giving the make and model of everything.

I also know nothing of Day-Lite screens but it is essentiall an AC shade motor. Therefore you should be able to build a circuit utilizing relays for under $30US dollars. I would use one DPDT and one SPDT relay. Interlock the coils so that only one relay can be energized at any time ( hence the DPDT relay: run the negative of the SPDT coil into the NC of one of the DPDT contacts. If the DPDT is energized it moves the wipe on both contacts, energizing the motor but opening the circuit to the other relay's coil ). You will need to energize two relays by some means.

I have seen this done with one SPDT relay but I am not a fan of this unless you can make absolutely certain that the relay once engaged will not stop until it has reached its limit. Using a change of direction as a break on a motor is very bad and produces currents sufficiently high to fuse the relay's contacts.
