Got an oddball client request today. We are going to be installing a Runco cw61 above his fireplace on a cantilever mount. Client wanted to know if we could source a mount that was motorized and can be programmed to stop at preset locations "like the seats in my Mercedes" and then have it return to it's recessed home atop the fireplace when powered off. He cannot bear the thought of having to actually get up and move the tv manually.

We have put plasmas under motorized covers, on lifts and in custom made plexiglass housings at poolside , but this is a new one on me.....

An internet search has been pretty much fruitless, before I start playing with linear actuators, relays and limit switches, does anyone know where I can find a premade motorized pan and tilt mount that can be controlled via Crestron and will support this size display??

Thanks

I don't know of any commercially available product but, I've done simmilar things in my car audio days with a Mercedes seat slide set-up on an amp rack and monitors.
It took 2 days to get it working properly(LONG DAYS!!!) The Crestion control might be tuff, though!
I hope he has a LOT of cash and want's it REAL bad. It could easily take a couple days just to deal with the fine tuning.
Every day is a good day.......some are just better than others!

Proud to say that my property is protected by a high speed wireless device!

I've had this request as well in the past (don't you just love people with more money than brains?). Using Crestron as an interface should not be very hard provided the limit switches are signalling the Crestron and not some external motorization circuit if there is no way to get the limit swicthes in then this sounds like a job for industrial servos more than linear actuators but then we are speaking of a fairly complex control system since it needs to monitor data from the servo feedback. I would hunt down a mechanical engineer if this guy is really willing and "able" to pay for this type of laziness. :)

Yeah, that's just plain sick. But it would be cool. And we do make a living on what's cool. But it's still sick.

Could you make one for me?

Yah, I can build one for you! But it won't be cheap. The "trial and error" situation will eat up a lot of time!

You could always wait until I perfect it, have it built overseas, and then, pick it up at Wallmart for about a hundred fifty bucks!! Isn't that the way the "big boy's" do it?
By then, I'll be the guy "on the yacht with the flag sayin' CHILLiN' THE MOST"!!!!

Of course, you'll be welcomed aboard!!

And then "Rock that B***H up and down the coast"

I might grab a cantilever mount from work and see if I can figure out a way to make it happen.

Being a chronic tinkerer I love projects like this. If he is paying, I will make it happen. Will let you guys know what comes of it....

Actually I was just about to suggest the same,

We use loads of their manual brackets, the electric ones can be controlled via Crestron, they also cater for loads of other applications.

We know the guys well, but not sure if they export to the States.

SWEET!

I was discussing this with my boss at lunch today. Due to time constraints and liability issues he was going to contract the work out to an outside firm. I will pass that link onto him.

Thanks for the help guys, much appreciated..
