Tom, you're set. 1960's brick will be kiln-fired, nice & hard. Use your anchor of choice, mine is always lag bolts & lead shields.

Ah yes, the kiln. I wish they had never made bricks until they applied the "heat" factor.
Why do I have to do all of the old, soft brick installs?
It might be because I'm good at it, or, I'm just not "livin' right!

Tom,
Had a job last weak were we had to mount a 50" plasma on brick. Simply drilled into the brick as mentioned above and it held like a dream. If you are unsure you might simply place a load onto the lags as they sit in the anchors and see then. Yu'd be surprised, but defineately not the mortar. Traditionally that is the "softest" stuff on the wall.

"Modern brick" is a godsend (can I still say God ???) Don't do the morter thing.
It's almost as strong as a pile of sawdust!!

Somewhere else they were singing the praises of "tapcons" but you like lag bolts and what are the lead shields??

A "lead shield" is an insert that expands when a lag bolt is installed into it.
It's a lot less frustrating to use compared to a tapcon, wich requires a near perfect hole to be drilled to work. If the drill wobles a TINY bit, the hole will be too loose. If the hole is a TINY bit tight, the head snaps off !

Well, I got a chance to inspect the wall in question. What the customer described as limestone I'm sure isn't actually limestone, but rather just a rough cut stone that was typically used for fireplaces back in the day.
The stones a good four inches thick and I'm not sure what's behind it, but I'm guessing it's concrete block or brick that the stone's been "wall tied" to.
I guess I'm gonna give it a shot, make sure that my insurance is up to date and use eight lead anchors to secure it.
P.S. For some odd reason, the customer could care less about hiding the wires.

Don't sweat this instsall to much , we have mounted several displays in this manner and have never had a problem. Just be sure to use lags and expanders, no tapcons they tend to crack on ocassion. Hang your body wieght off the mount before the display ,then you know for sure it can support the display.
