I have found that of these "covers" draw more attention to the area then just mounting the damn thing to the ceiling/wall.

A designer insisted everything be flush (frameless) but when she found out she couldn't do anything about the Smokes she let the AP's go on the ceiling. She suggested hiding them behind a panel, but when I sent her options she just said screw it up. First time in a long time I actually agreed with a designer.

To be honest, they do blend in well enough that most people don't notice. Im on a job now where I wired them into hall closets because it was insisted NOTHING be on the ceiling. that being said I would say just find a closet

Depends on the product.  I wish that Ruckus, Araknis and others would design theirs to look like Unifi APs.  The mounts on Unifi suck, but the over look is the nicest of any AP I have seen.  Basically a cleaner looking large smoke detector.  Ruckus was the worst looking one I installed, especially since it had, I believe, 4 or 5 green led lights clearly visible right on the bottom of them.

I've been using more and more of the Ubiquiti in-wall access points. True, I mount them at outlet level and they are not as potent or well located as a ceiling access point, but the in-room access point is more effective than a more potent access point several rooms distant. These are PoE and I need to have wires in place or be able to run wires in order to avoid the mess of local power injector wiring. If there is an in place network port it is a short task to replace the port with an in-wall.

In very difficult situations the in-walls will mesh. I had a situation where the office had good wireless coverage from the next room, but the garden was not covered. Since the office overlooked the garden and running wires anywhere near the garden or the office was not in the cards, a meshed in-wall in the office painlessly gave the garden reasonable (not stellar) coverage.

I see they have a new 4x4 in wall AP that may work well in larger homes with lots of structured wiring jacks in all the bedrooms. I still perfer a Nano HD on the ceiling for best coverage, never had any push back and always just works

Saw this the other day while looking at CE Pro. I have no experience with the company so I don’t know how well they perform.

Ruckus APs used to look cleaner. I would love to know what got them to switch to the glossy boxes they have now that look like ISDN modems from the 90's.

Others have followed suit though.  Not quite as bad, but I don't get what anyone creates a square AP.  The round just looks much better on a ceiling and you don't have to dick around with getting it to square up with the walls.

Snap did revamp their APs and went from square to round. But they put sharp edges on the exposed side and rounded the edges on the ceiling side.

Thanks. Didn't realize they changed to round format on the new models

Round is the ideal shape for ceiling mounted APs.

Trying to square them up on a ceiling full of round objects kinda sucks.

Also: I did a ton of in ceiling Pakedge access points. That presented a challenge years on down the road when no same form factor replacements were available and you now have holes in the ceiling to contend with.
I am a trained professional..... Do not attempt this stunt at home.
