Convection stove (240v) causing a once per second type pulse through the powered Def Tech subwoofer in the great room next to the kitchen after a remodel.

Solved with a newer surge protector for subwoofer.

Haven't had an issue quite like this ever before.
Pondering:
...broken stove maybe appliance guys should check it out, chance it could be dangerous
...ac wiring issue that should be checked/addressed
...yeah it's a noisy stove forget about it

Confident only place AC wires could be near each other are in the utility room at the breaker panel. Not being induced on signal wire to sub, happens even with just subwoofer AC plugged in. Only when stove is actually being used.

Same sub prior to remodel, new stove.

Have you measured voltage under load? Is the AC wiring correct? Check to see if the neutral wire is actually neutral.

Are you shorting the subwoofer input while testing with no input?

Can you observe any once per second activity associated with the stove?

The subwoofer outlet tested correct for wiring. Didn't short the input.

Suspect it's the fan of the convection oven.

May have something to do with Pulse width modulation, ran in to issues with this with Infratech IR heaters. Electricians originally ran romex to heaters and when heaters were used other than 100% lights in the house would be affected. Electricians reran with BX electrical wire and it solved the problem.

The idea that replacing the surge protector cures the issue must be some sort of hint, but it certainly is not intuitive.

Grasping for straws: there could be some sort of transient on the power and the old protector is worn out or your new protector is more potent. I don't know why this transient is present only when the stove is running.

Off the wall: Over the years I've had trouble with turntables and static discharges. Adding some graphite to the main bearing or a little talc to the back of the belt is effective.

I have also had some trouble with cassette deck motors generating static discharges. Grounding these motors takes care of this one.

I guess it is possible that the fan associated with the stove is generating static discharges.

The issue arises with the oven only or is this a cooktop as well? If it’s a cooktop, is it one of those induction type?

Can the oven be turned on without the fan being turned on too? Basically make it a normal oven. (I believe this should be possible because using the fan may not be called in certain recipes.)

That's a good point. Induction or not, some stoves operate with a "bang-bang" sort of control scheme. Rather than modulating element drive current, dwell time is modulated. In this case the timing of the pulses will depend on the element's drive setting.

220V stove should be on a dedicated circuit. Gas previously, before the remodel?
