We have a handful of customers who use alexa for really simple automation. I.e. voice control of some lights or shades... We find it best to setup a "routine" in alexa to handle it. We generally set it up for them as our customers tend to be totally confused by technology.

Of course that requires us to have access to the customer's Amazon account. Kind of a pia. Plus I feel odd having that access.

For many, the Alexa could live on a different Amazon account (assuming the customer does not use it for ordering stuff... most don't) But that makes things kind of complicated.

Anyone know of a way to setup separate access to an Amazon/Alexa account that can be used "somewhat" exclusively for Alexa... ideally just configuration, but something close to it.

Any other ideas? I figured I'd ask for ideas before jumping down the rabbit hole.

Thanks in advance.

My handle is Tweety but I have nothing to do with the organization of similar name. I just had a really big head as a child so folks called me tweety bird.

For in the client's house.... buy each such client a cheap FireTablet and stick it away in the rack or cabinet for techs to use for setup etc. when on site.

Now you have access, but only when onsite, even if clients not home etc. and you don't need to hog their device, or they worry about you seeing picts, emails etc. on theirs when doing setups for them.
Technology is cheap, Time is expensive.

So you're feeling odd having their password while Amazon records everything they say and do.

I wouldn't feel too bad.

Its amazing how many passcodes customers are willing to give up. Granted, they trust us and should. I offer to them to change it to something for me to use, then change it back. 99% dont. And thats fine. I remind them the only password I want to keep is their ATM password. We laugh at my childish humor.
