I am trying to get my head around configuration of a Hikvision DS-2CD63C2F-IV fisheye camera with a Hikvision DS-9616NI NVR.

Camera link:

My goal is to mount the camera on the exterior wall of a house for a 180 degree view and then setup the NVR with two "virtual" cameras; one camera to capture the left 90 degrees and a second camera to capture the right 90 degrees.

Is the idea that I need to configure RTSP streams on the camera for each of the views that I want, and then use the "Custom Protocol" option on the NVR to grab the desired streams?

I haven't tried this out, yet, because the camera has not yet arrived and also I don't have a Hikvision NVR on my bench to test with.
If it's not simple, it's not sufficiently advanced.

I spoke to Hikvision tech support. Apparently, what I want to accomplish can best be done without using RTSP streams.

Instead, when I add the camera to the NVR 4 separate times. After adding each one, I edit the camera settings and change the "Camera No." to correspond to the view that I wish that particular instance to record.

By default, there are 4 different channels corresponding to the 4 quadrants of full field of view. By using the PTZ controls on the camera's live view screen, I can refine the exact boundaries of a given channel.

That's not an outdoor camera right? You said stuff about exterior walls.

You are correct that I plan to use it outdoors. The specsheet does seem to describe it as an indoor/outdoor camera:

However, my first thought when I took it out of the box was that it did not feel like an outdoor camera. I'd better call Hikvision.

IP66 and IK10.

Should be fine unless it's going to be filming the business end of a fire hose. :)
