If anyone could drive it into the ground and destroy it, Kevin and Noel Lee are the ones.

Same here.

The Euopean site is up. It looks like a "store" of some sort, but no products are presented.

I remember my first encounter with their first speaker wire. "What a wonderful brand name", I thought, and their wire looked nice and fat. Then I stripped the insulation my reaction was "where's the beef?" That was pretty much the end between me and Monster. Nothing they have done since has changed my mind.

They should have stuck with speaker cable. People absolutely loved it back in the day.

The last time i purchased monster anything was about 7 or 8 years ago when i ordered some low-profile/thin HDMI cables for a cabinet that had an existing 90 degree hole drilled in it. Typical HDMI cables couldn't make the turn. They were $50 each.

Both HDMI cables were defective. I ended up waiting for permission to enlarge the holes in the cabinet to pull new HDMI cables. Total waste of time and money.

WAY back, I sold a lot of Monster crap.

The clients demanded it because "It's the best!".

Even got invited to the Monster show at CES. Man could certainly put on a great dog and pony show...

Where I worked back in the day, they had a Monster sales contest. I won three years in a row and got to go drive all of Lee's exotic cars. The Ferrari was the best, but his twin turbo Porsche was really fast. I drove the Ferrari 165 mph, with the guy in the front seat about to shiat his pants.

Fun times!

I worked for Monster in San Fran and Europe. When in the US I took care of all the cars, the best was the turbo Civic. It could beat the Ferrari off the line but couldn't take it at speed.

It was painful place to work. I've never seen staff turnover like at Monster. Noel would call you at 3am to do a listening test. They once brought in all the top reps to meet with the Monster heads of each division. I was Car Audio and Scott was Pro Audio. Instead of us sitting down and discussing what they needed, we had to wash the cars so the reps could drive them.

At the time, his son Kevin's "big" contribution to the company was selling Patriot Condoms.......

I was flying back and forth to Europe every other weekend. Never on company time, you flew on Saturdays and Sundays on your time. We would arrive at the airport and there would be 30 extra boxes of products with zero paperwork. Back then you'd just tip the outside porter $5 a box and they'd make it on the plane. Then at arrival you'd have to figure out a way to get it through customs with the least amount of hassle.

When they first hired me it was for me to represent them in Europe. They had me come to the states for "training" illegally. They had to pay me cash because I wasn't legal. After 6 months they decided they wanted me in the States for another 3 years...... illegally, too expensive to pay a lawyer. I said no way so they said, see you later, they were going to leave me high and dry stuck in San Fran. Luckily they were way too stupid and had me sign a contract at the very beginning. I got a fully paid 2 week vacation back home, all my flights and moving expenses to Europe covered and a good chunk of cash!!
