Hello,

Tried to migrate IP cameras over, but they won't show up in the main view. I can connect to them all and configure them individually, and I can view them elsewhere in the NVR's setup menus...I just can't get them to be 'added' to the main grid view.

So I do some reading and see that I'm a couple versions of firmware behind. OK, so I'll update that - going in 2 steps, as directed by the README.

After the update, the password (and unlock pattern) we set no longer works. There is no default password, I think, since it makes you select one when the unit first fires up. The user login dialog box has a bunch of gibberish in it, too. Can't enter anything there.

So I contact Hikvision for the reset procedure, and they reply favorably, but their response doesn't fit their own script of what's supposed to happen (they say they'll reply with an .xml file named 'encrypt' which you load in to reset the password, but I *think* they either forgot to attach the file or modified the name of the file I send).

thanks
iosman

Are you in the US market, was the Hikvision NVR for the US market, and lastly was the firmware for the US market.

You HAVE to match the firmware to the hardware, if you use another regions firmware it can brick the NVR. And you can get weird things like you described.
It is a very common problem, because NVRs meant for the Asian market are shipped over here to the US all the time - sold by shady websites and eBay, AliExpress, etc.. And the different firmware for each region is easily available online also.
So knowing 100% where the NVR was originally sourced from is critical, as well as matching the correct regions firmware.

[edit]: This isn't like the Hik cameras, where you 'can' flash another regions firmware sometimes. The NVRs are a lot more complicated and different, so wrong firmware can sometimes screw them up.
