I remember getting Caller ID in Ledyard, CT way back in the late 80’s or early 90’s. At the same time, my grand parents in Quakertown, PA still required rotary phones to be used. Hell, I think it was still a party line with their neighbors.
At some point the party line wasn’t needed, but rotary was still needed. Up until the early 2000’s.
Every now and then I would make a phone call to a company of some sort. And I’m brought back in time when I hear “For rotary callers, please hold for the next available operator.” Like just tonight, made a call to a hospital in Boston.
Anyone still dealing with a phone service that still requires rotary phones to work?
