well, just thought I'd correct myself on this one. Turns out track-control ( next / previous/by number ) doesn't get sent to the slave 1009. So I changed the setup to run as 2 seperate players and will probably have to get these RF extenders to be able to control the players seperately. For now, they just run in parallel.

cheers,
Edwin.

The pronto RFX does not let you address seperate ports. the MX-3000 Extender does.

On Friday I was sent out to deal with 5 DSS boxes with one set of IR codes. I had asked the boss to get me a Xantech Gatekeeper several weeks ago so i could get a feel for it. Well it never happened. So to integrate the 5 boxes to a TSU7000...

THATS RIGHT 5, COUNT'EM, 5 RFXs. Oops that messes up that cost seneraio Ohh and I needed another Panamax Max 8 as there were 25 things that needed to be plugged in on this wall. Maybe sales should have sold something more than a 8 outlet surge surpressor?

I have used multiple Pronto RF kits on one system and the kits work half the time. Range is extremely limited and the kits must be as far away from the equipment as possible. The MX-3000 has a great RF kit and is what my company uses now. As far as multiple units; we use an Elan SR-1 and it works extremely well and uses IR codes that can be programmed into anyones learning remote.

I had the same problem. A Pioneer mega DVD and a universal DVD player. They both used the same codes from the remote. What I did was plug both units into an X-10 outlet which I can control the on/off of both units. It is not expensive an work well. There is even an X-10 forum here if you need more info.

I've got a pair of Sony DVD mega changers (with a third one en-route) used an IR extender, and a set of relays to switch the output to one of the two (three) IR wands, placed over the IR window.
I built the switching unit into the S-video selector, which selects the viewable output. Used the mimic LED signal to drive the Relay driver, and it all "just works".
I know that this is fine for a one off, but depending on your situation (and budget) you might want to consider something similar.

The Sony "works" because they planned it out with some thought.
Most duplicated components cannot be chained as successfully as the Sony's.

The RTI T1 or T2+ used with the RP-6 can provide a solution for the multiple changers, DSS boxes, etc.

IMO, the RP-6 blows away the RF base of any other manufacturer because of sheer flexibility and programming power.

I haven't used the MX-850 / MRF-250, but I did get bitten on the backside by the MX-800 system...

I have heard very good things about the new Universal products from this forum and other people I trust, and it is certainly cheaper than a similarly configured RTI system.

If you sticking with your Pronto NG, use Ernie's solution, it will work flawlessly.
