Had a client email me that has a URC MX890 that is trying to delete a non functioning app on his AppleTV.  The process is to hold down the select button on an app till is shakes, then press the play/pause button to delete.  That is with the AppleTV remote.  With the URC remote, when you press Play or Pause, it just exits the shaking mode.  I tried with my system which is TC, but uses the same database codeset, and get the same results.  I tried changing the repeats on the play button to see if it made any difference but it did not.  Is there a trick to accomplishing this?  I have an AppleTV3 and I believe the client does as well, if that matters.

I just got my first apple tv Friday via ATT $90 deal, its 4K, anyways for some reason I had an apple tv device on mx900's second page, did what you did got the same results. But with Inteset 422-3 UEI made remote using code 02615, I can get it delete using the same procedure. I don't know what difference between the two code sets used in the different universal remotes? Hope you figure it out.

Do they have an iPhone? If so then have them use the Apple remote, downloading maybe required.

If there are multiple Apple TV’s, proper selection is needed.

Using the track pad, swipe until desired app is selected. Then press and hold the track pad until it shakes. When it starts shaking, release the track pad and then press the Play/Pause button for more options.

A new screen comes up asking Delete, New Folder or Cancel.

How often do they want to delete apps?

I'd add the play/pause command from the database to the remote and try that.  The Play and Pause commands are discrete, so they probably aren't what the ATV is looking to receive to confirm.

The commands in the database automatically add the play/pause.  You can press the play or the pause button (or select as well) and it will play and pause.  I did add separate play and pause commands though to test and it did not work.

1 or 10,000.  Doesn't really matter, it does not work.  I need to find a resolution for any other customers as well.  The ATV is in a basement utility room in this case.  I don't want to tell clients to send their kid down to the basement with the OEM remote and yell down to press play/pause when he tells them too.

I know I've been able to make this work before using URC CCP & TC.  I think the trick was to use the "learning code set" and then you have to go into the Apple TV settings and go through the process to learn the commands into the Apple TV.

Here are a few IR codes you can try. I think the first one will work, the second someone made specifically using a control4 EA processor so it might not work.

What I use on Elan systems (I have the repeats set to 10)

0000 0070 0022 0000 014F 00A8 0015 0016 0015 003F 0015 003F 0015 003F 0015 0016 0015 003F 0015 003F 0015 003F 0015 003F 0015 003F 0015 003F 0015 0016 0015 0016 0015 0016 0015 0016 0015 003F 0015 003F 0015 0016 0015 003F 0015 0016 0015 0016 0015 0016 0015 0016 0015 0016 0015 003F 0015 003F 0015 0016 0015 003F 0015 0016 0015 003F 0015 0016 0015 003F 0015 0577 014F 0054 0015 0E03

From a Control4 driver (repeats set to 20)

0000 006b 000a 000a 00e6 002e 002e 002e 0017 0017 0017 0017 002e 0017 0017 002e 002e 002e 0017 0017 0017 0017 0017 0483 0073 002e 002e 002e 0017 0017 0017 0017 002e 0017 0017 002e 002e 002e 0017 0017 0017 0017 0017 0483

Those didn't work on my mx900, first acted like preset play key, second didn't work at all.

Teaching the command from ofa urc7935 streamer remote worked.

It sounds like the URC command doesn't repeat but the Apple TV command lets the command repeat as long as you hold down the button. I've seen something like this way back in original Pronto days!

At that time the solution was to envision the command as having two parts. The first part was learned the normal way. The second part was learned by covering the remote's emitter, pushing and holding the button, then uncovering the emitter. This learned the repeating part of the code. Then you'd make a macro of the first part followed by as many as a dozen of the repeating part. This was how you'd construct a projector power command back then, where you had to hold down the original remote's power button.

The thing is, this worked with the first couple of generations of Pronto and Marantz remote. Once the software changed to NG, the repeating section apparently had pauses in it.

It might be worth trying to make a macro like that.
A good answer is easier with a clear question giving the make and model of everything.

Did you set the repeats to 10 on the first code? I don't remeber that you are able to edit the repeats in the old editor. I know you can in CCP.

I was thinking about doing this but stopped short with my testing when the wife got home after a horrible day. I can try learning as well to see how it goes.
