I am using an HTM MX-700. Bought it when they first came out. Would like to upgrade to a RF capable remote so I can move my gear to an adjacent room.

Have a friend who wants the MX-700. Or I might keep it to control a separate system in my exercise room.

The MX-700 really works well for me, I understand it and know how to program it --- the logical choice would be a MX-800/850 with the little base station. I have seen these on eBay for about $250 or so, new with warranty.

However saw some glowing reviews on the RTI T2. Particularly on range, but it is over twice the money and a new learning curve to program.

My big question is the RF sensitivity. Which is better?

The T2+ has EXCELLENT RF range. It is very much improved over the older T2, but as you said it is more expensive than the HTM.
I have not used the HTM in an RF setup, but I have a mx700 at home.
When programming the mx700 I always wish I could do it with the RTI software which is far superior and more powerful than the mx editor.

If price is not an issue, I would hands down without a second thought say get the T2+ with RP6 (the RF antenna is seperate RM433 is the model number). The other problem is the new RTI software is not available to the general public, so you might have a little trouble if you are not in the industry.

If you have specific questions feel free to PM me with them.

The RF on the RTi has been flawless, the programming is a piece of cake, it is expensive. The MX800 is cheaper, has so-so RF capability, and easy to program. RTI has had problems in the past with reliability, but supposedly they fixed it.

The RF range with the new MX line (MX-850, MX-350) works great with the MFR-250 base station. All the problems of the earlier MRF-200 seem to be cleared up, at least in our experience. If a very long range is needed, then I would look into the MRF-300 base station to be out soon. This has adjustable sensitivity for the antenna and can use up to 3 antenna located wherever you want and run back to the base station.

Chances are the MRF-250 will work fine for you. I have no experience with RTI RF stuff.

Hope this helps.

RF range.....hmmm......the Universal stuff is solid in that case, but I'm not sure they can quite touch RTI just yet.

And since Ernie won't keep count, I will. Hes up to 249, and counting.
