anyone know anything like a xantech SMLIT01 that would detect an LED turning on/off and give me a CC or 2v-30v output to tie into a C4 system

Before I look, do you require parts to make this yourself, or a finished product that you just connect to power and output while placing the sensor somewhere? Where is the sensor going to be placed, that is, are there any squirrely environmental details?
A good answer is easier with a clear question giving the make and model of everything.

I'm sure that this is not exactly what you are looking for, but it will start a discussion.

looking for finished product. mounting on flat plastic clean surface. the xantech piece i mentioned would be perfect. the little head that actually sensed was perfect.
a) if i could power it. it was designed to plug into some of their controller which i imagine provided power via the 3.5mm stereo plug
c) if it was still made!!

URC makes one that plugs into their processors that you could split open the cable and use in this manner.  "SEN-LITE" is the model number.

I don't think it would sense the light from an LED. It would also need to be installed in a box as it looks to be 120 volts. Other than that - great idea!

They are still made, but they are badged Elan now. And they can be powered separately if you cut the plug off and splice into the wire. But it’s a little bit of a science project. I think they may make one under the niles name for the Niles audio system.

good info, thanks. i wonder if urc, elan, niles would provide the pinout of the 4 conductor 3.5mm plug so i could figure out which wire is what, and also what voltage the jack sends to the sensor.

● Tip: Voltage Trigger Output
● Ring 2: 5VDC Power Input
● Ring 3: NC (Not connected)
● Ring 4: Ground

If you want something purpose built, the Elan LTSENSOR with an Elan SIM2 is what you need.

BOOM!!! thanks. i saw the sensors when Fins suggested them, but that SIM2 is the special sauce that makes it all come together.
