I had a red glitter-vinyl sofa when i was 18. My roommate and i bought it for $10 from a guy that looked like Ron Jeremy. We carried it 8 blocks to our apartment.

That wasn't glitter spots.....LOL

Top and bottom probably do have venting, but those become "side" vents in this case, and that creates a trap at the now top.

I would want something pulling air through, as I think without, the life of an amp will be shortened.

You'll get better cooling with turbulent flow than with laminar flow. Pulling air into a space guarantees the largest amount of nice, smooth, not terribly effective laminar flow. Pushing air into a space, or, more exactly, onto an irregularly shaped surface or structure, gives you turbulence, which gives you better cooling with exactly the same fan.

Also consider that components with an "up" might not cool well at all when placed sideways. One previous side, now down, will cool best. The side that is now the "up" side will cool least, receiving heat from adjacent and lower areas.
A good answer is easier with a clear question giving the make and model of everything.
