I have had both, and think I like the Nest better. I switched because I also have a Nest thermostat, and wanted to use one app for both. However, one client has some of the Ring floodlight cameras, and they sure seem to do a great job. Thought I would get doorbell feedback from you all. Ding-dong?

Ring....

I caved and installed a ring elite at our front door. Single handedly one of the best investments I have done as far as installing gear at my house. I ordered 3 floodlight cameras too (still have to install) The wife was always frustrated with the HIK cams and accessing the app, She loves the ring and the alerts (which are crazy accurate as far as the lines go)

That because Hikvision cams are junk. Lilin FTW!!! LOL (I would even do LUMA (which is rebranded HIK) over Hikvision

What a minute, how can rebranded be any better than the original product, better paint, I don't get that at all?

Doorbird. It uses Onvif format and can be connected to a real NVR.

Its not better. Lilin is our go to but we use Luma only if the customer requests it or they already have it at other locations.

We treat Luma like Sonos. Use it only if we HAVE to

Nest.
I started off doing Ring and switched to Nest after multiple failures with Ring.
I haven't had a single issue with Nest.
I still get calls all the time about Ring products dying, not working right, flood light cameras going out within a year.....
Really wish Nest would make a floodlight type camera though!

I'm really happy that those DIY devices aren't my only two choices!

Ring works great, but Nest has a better, sleeker app in my opinion and looks better next to the door too. The only negative for Nest is it's expensive to get cloud recording, whereas Ring is very cheap. Having said that, I would occasionally miss the beginning or end of a video clip with Ring, even with very strong wifi. I have not used the Ring Elite. I've installed a few Ring 2's and it's very nice when you don't have to try to cram a dongle in the chime box - Nest still has that dongle.

I haven't used Nest Hello but admit I'm curious to the differences between it and Ring. My only issues with Ring are that I've had issue with installation even when wifi signal is pretty good at the device location. Once connected though they work just fine. Secondly, and this one bugs me. When I get a motion alert on the doorbell or light, and I try to view from the pop up notification, it NEVER loads. I always get an error. If I then go back and select live view, it pulls up fine. This defeats the purpose quite a bit. Otherwise, the cameras are decent quality for what they are and what they cost, and it is easy to use and cheap recurring fees

Nest notifications send a snapshot of who triggered it. Decent.

plus nest has nicer wifi cameras. Definetly agree it would be cool if nest had a floodlight cam

Both Nest and Ring products can be tempermental when using odd characters in the SSID or Wifi Passwords, FWIW.
