Sony TV and Optoma 4K projector coming out of dual HDMI outputs from Yamaha receiver. Ethereal Installbay fibre optic HDMI to projector. When I was there projector image seemed solid. Now customer says it’s blanking out consistently using 4K Apple TV. Sony TV never a problem. I just learned the Optoma is not Dolby Vision compatible and the Sony is. I seem to remember the Apple TV asking every once in a while to try HDR or try Dolby Vision and I would hit “yes”.
My theory is that the customer has changed the Apple TV to put out Dolby Vision, making the projector inconsistent. Why does the Apple TV constantly ask to try a format when it sees a new device? Is there any way to stop that and just keep it on one format - say 4K HDR 30 hrz?
