We use RTI control with Sony TVs a lot. In the last couple of weeks we have two customers lose RS232 control after firmware update. We have had other cases that were resolvable with a factory reset and turning the RS 232 and Simple IP control on. In these cases nothing has worked. Sony and Rti have not been help in resolving this issue. Anyone else bump into the RS232 stop working. If not RS232 what are you using to control Sony?

I've seen this same issue in a couple of Sony AVR's about a year ago. RS232 driver in Control4 works fine, but then totally stops after updating the AVR's firmware. Not much help, though.

As mentioned we primarily use Sony tvs. Any issues at all with IP? I recall reading about some issues a few years ago.

We resolved one of the problems by switching to IP. Our programmer checked and the tv was responding to the commands sent via RS232,but no change in status. Works fine with IP control The other Rs232 situation doesn't have an Ethernet cable at the location. I send a note to Install Support at Sony and they are forwarding it to engineering for evaluation. If anyone else bumps into this let me know as Sony hasn't heard anything similar from other dealers.

Only one tv a couple of years ago. Power cycling fixed it.
Otherwise it’s been solid using C4 and Elan g.

We are pretty sure we found the problem with RS232 and Sony tvs. We found that you have to be signed into a google account on the Android system in order for apps to update. It turns out EVERYTHING is an app including rs232 and input control etc. After signing in to the Android system the problematic tv starting working on rs232 again. Since then I found 2 other Sony tvs that lost video on one input and after signing in and turning on auto app updates the input started working again. Thanks for the help on this.
