I just edited the title of this thread to be more accurate.

We have an ongoing problem with our DirecTV HR24. I'd like to know if any of you have seen this. It happened way before the ads started that are asking us to call DirecTV to urge them to keep different channels.

It was only occasional but has happened a few days in a row now. I doubt that the change to channel 2 has nothing to do with programming or with CBS, but instead is simply the tuner seeking the lowest channel in the channel list.

This is quite normal for us
We're in the Los Angeles market
Watching Ch 7 ABC HD

A month ago this happened a few times.
The DVR changes to Ch 2 CBS HD.
I can use the remote to go back to Ch 7 ABC HD

This week
Ch 7 ABC HD goes blank and box goes to Ch 2 CBS HD.
We attempt to return to Ch 7 ABC HD and find that it's gone, but Ch 7 ABC SD remains on.

We check from time to time and some time later in the day Ch 7 ABC HD is back in the guide and we can tune to it.

Over the last year or two we've awakened to find the box has switched to Ch 2 CBS HD. We had left it on Ch 7 ABC HD the previous night. Normally the box turns on to the same channel it had been on when we turned it off.

We control this unit with an RC66RX and an RC65RBX, both set up to control the DVR using RF.

A good answer is easier with a clear question giving the make and model of everything.

Try forcing a software download.

Good idea.

I downloaded new software.

Actually, I went through the steps. The software was dated 8/2 before I started and now the new download is dated 8/2. I don't know if that means the same software was downloaded, or if it downloaded the software, compared the new with the old, found them to be identical, and just dumped the new software. I don't know that much about those details.

So I went through the steps but have nothing to show that anything was downloaded.
