Has anyone used the 2 position connector on the back of the Ring Elite to trigger a whole home audio distribution door chime?

I spent an unbearable amount of time on the phone with Ring tech support and no one there has any clue what a contact closure even is. They are great support when it is something they can read off their cards / script but once you ask a question that isn't on there...oh boy.

Use case:
We have an old system with an Elan C2 and client wanted to replace the DSC3 door station with a Ring Elite. The C2 feeds the sum trigger output into a Crestron AV 3 IO and from there we trigger the global interrupt on the Crestron SWAMP to play the chime through all of the house speakers.

We rewired everything according to how it should work now with the Ring (took the connector from the ring and wired it to the trigger 1 input on the Elan C2). It works as intended when we manually short the wires but we get nothing when pressing the button on the Ring.

Anyone done anything similar? or have any words of wisdom to throw at the scenario? Any / all help is much appreciated.

Did you go into the doorbells chime settings and change those?

Settings - Device Settings - General Settings - Doorbell Chime Type

Try Mechanical or Digital

What does the VOM register on the Ring terminals? That would be my first test.

We tried both of these settings and different time settings on the digital option with no luck.

I didnt have my multimeter with me on that trip but will bring on my return.

Always the first thing to do is check for voltage across any terminals that can be connected to external stuff.

In the following, "terminal" can mean "chassis" or "case."
This list is not just for Ring... it's for every unknown situation.

1st check for AC voltage, each terminal to ground -- save your life
2nd check for DC voltage, each terminal to ground -- save your life
3rd check for AC voltage, terminal to terminal -- save your life and your meter
4th check for DC voltage, terminal to terminal -- save your life and your meter
Know your meter. Some meters show a voltage present when the other type (i.e. DC versus AC) is present. Test your meter in advance so you'll know when this happens.

5th check for resistance to ground from each terminal
6th check for resistance from terminal to terminal
A good answer is easier with a clear question giving the make and model of everything.

Has there been an answer to this?
I'd like to do the same thing.

If you are using Control4 or URC you can use the BlackWire Ring Events Driver. If you're using anything else currently your best course of action is to purchase the Elk-930

You mentioned developing an Elan driver. Any update on that? Will it work with a Ring Pro too?

In progress. No ETA yet. It works on any ring device.

I am still trying to get that figured out as well, from what I have been told from engineering at Ring it still takes 18/24v ac to power the short. There is a relay configuration that I will try and find for you and post it here once I get back into the office.

Have you taken a look at the Ring Video Doorbell Chime Kit Compatibility List?

Thank you for the link. We dont actually have a chime in the house. I was hoping the unit would work as a contact closure that I attached to a trigger input on the Elan C2 Com Controller.

The link was helpful because I was looking at the Niles boxes but they are on the incompatible list.

Similar for me. I'd like to get some sort of trigger to ultimately trigger a Niles DB1 unit. I can't even get a rise in voltage out of the wires when the Ring call button is pressed (which I could then use an Elk module to give me a closure).

I'm actually tired of farting with it. The best I can hope for is Blackwire's driver for Elan (which I assume allows the Elan to see a call over the network). I could then get a closure from the Elan controller to trigger the Niles DB.
