Client wants a projector in his outdoor gazebo. I'd mount it to his gazebo and point at his garage. I'm guessing it's about 20' +/- to the wall. He doesn't want to leave a fixed screen on the wall. It's a tan color smooth stucco. I don't think it'd look good going directly on to the wall but have no idea. I don't have much projector experience.
Is there a fixed screen that can be removed and put in the garage? Though it may be a little to big for the client to be messing with.
I'm just starting to look around to see what's available but posting this first.

Project onto the stucco and see if it looks good- I worked for an integrator in 2005 and we fired up the system before the screen arrived, projecting Smoky And The Bandit onto a tan wall; it looked really good and anything that was white looked very close to real white. It was easy to ignore the color shift.
My mechanic told me, "I couldn't repair your brakes, so I made your horn louder."

You would be surprised what looks good on a tan wall. I would drag a projector out there to test with before going through the trouble of a screen. Assuming this is a "normal people" residence and not a 1%'er estate. Obviously if the client has a house staff then the removable screen is the way to go because the client doesn't ever have to touch it.

I haven't done a fixed screen outside but if i did...i would make sure that there was a simple mounting procedure so that anyone can take the screen out and snap it into place without a bunch of rusty bolts and misc hardware to deal with. Maybe some big @ss recessed magnets and felt covered metal plates on the back of the screen.

The motorized screen cons are bugs and bats getting smashed up inside. I haven't seen it with a filmscreen but with motorized bug screens i have seen a half dozen bats attached as the screen rolled down. I imagine if the screens were down and the bats were inside when the screens went up...squish!

Bats!!??
There is no truth anymore. Only assertions. The internet world has no interest in truth, only vindication for preconceived assumptions.

Thanks for the input. What projector(s) would you recommend for this situation. Doesn’t have to be high end, just give a decent picture to watch a game that’s on or kids movie, etc.

I have a bunch of gear I have removed from various houses and I set up a driveway movie I project on my garage door. I set my projector up on a ladder that I built a custom mount for and then set out speakers around for surround sound. The whole setup process takes less than an hour. The garage door is white but it is also a faux panel door and after a few minutes you do not see the panels, you just focus past it. Your brain is surprisingly good at doing that kind of thing.

The real issue is getting an exterior projector that does not cost an arm and a leg. Talk to your distributor and see if they have any options.

Check out the Screen Innovation Solo Pro 2. Portable, rechargable, available up to 160" diagonal, and in a multitude of screen materials and case colors. I like the Slate 1.2 for this project, but something less expensive might work if they will only ever watch it at night. Down here, our summers start in April and last until October, so outdoor theaters are very popular.
