I have a Symetrix Radius AEC that went in for repair. It arrived today for 24hr rush repair so that it hopefully makes it back here this week before i leave town.

I have the backedup composer file to reload it. I have the Composer software to reload it. What i dont have is any understanding of this piece of software. :).

Typically you open software and find an "upload" or "download" or something similar. With Composer the closet thing i can find is two icons with a box and either an up or down arrow. The buttons are titled...

Go Online (Push site file to hardware) (F4)

Go Online (Pull site file from hardware) (F3)

I assume these are the upload buttons but im really pressed for time here and i dont want to assume i know what i am doing. I thought maybe one of you folks have had to do this before.

Take this with a grain of salt as I haven’t used Symetrix in a while, but what you describe sounds right.

Green arrow button pushes your file to the hardware

Yellow arrow button pulls file from the device (as long as it's archived)

If your software version doesn't match what's on the hardware it will either ask you to upgrade or downgrade the firmware. Every release of the software comes with an updated firmware.

The little checkbox in the lower left of the DSP in the site file will open up a window in case you have to change the IP or match it to the hardware

I got the unit back today and installed. Its working. Initial assumption was correct...thanks everyone. Here are a couple of notes...

#1.I could not stay connected to the device via wifi. It would connect...upload would begin...sometimes it would go through...but then i would lose connection. I had to hard wire my laptop to the network. Once i did that i was able to stay connected.

#2.I couldn't get any sound out of it at first. I had to click an "unmute all" button in the composer software. Once i did that i had sound. I closed the program down, disconnected my laptop and power cycled the unit a couple of times to make sure that this mute/unmute all setting didn't screw me. So far so good.

The folks over at Symetrix turned this around fast for us. I shipped it to them on the 13th around 5PM. It went from North Palm Beach, FL to Washington State. It arrived at 10AM there. They repaired it and shipped it back to me. I got it today at 11AM.

I paid extra for 24 rush repair $100 and shipping was ridiculous but all in it costs less than a new one and obviously cheaper than paying me to stay another day or two.

The unit mutes upon uploading the system file when you go live.
I had an electrician wire and solder some in-ceiling mics on a job for us and when I pressed the un-mute button all I could hear ringing in my head was the static from the mics being incorrectly wired.

I was new to Symetrix at the time and thought it was something I did in the programming. Called support and Chris was able to call the issue just by my description. He stated the unit is muted when you go live in case the volume is all the way up or if sparky mis-wired something.

Lippa- I'm up the road a few from you. Didn't know you were so close to Woburn.

From memory with symetrix,

If you load a file and then get online to make adjustments, ie: gains, trims, routing etc, after all changes have been made you need to save the file and push it to the device again as is. When they reboot, they will revert to the settings when the last file was pushed so it will over ride any changes you made whilst online.
