So I have had to replace a few Episode LS subs over the course of the last couple of years.  All of them had water in them.  I am doing a landscaping project in my house and pulled one of my 12" subs out of the ground and as usually, full of water.  Do you guys that sell/install Episode silicon everything up before you install?  I don't recall reading anything from Snap stating you should take this step, making it a bit frustrating to have to deal with them as they are very labor intensive to pull out of the ground.

What I would do right now, now that it’s out of the ground. Hook it up and light something on fire that will create a lot of smoke. Push some bass audio in the sub and take the smoke around all edges and such to see if there is a leak.

After looking at a couple of pictures. It looks like the cabinet that is seen from the outside is also the cabinet the sounds reverts off of. So I can only imagine all the bass sound creating some leakage at the edges.

Find them and seal them up.

Are you adding pea gravel under the sub?
That's part of the installation instructions for water retaining soils.

Sonance subs come with a grease or silicone that you put on both side of the elbow before you install them.

I've done both with and without, no difference.  I have had water in subs in both scenarios.  I believe the instructions do not mention adding pea gravel if memory serves correctly.

I tested for air escaping while playing and on the rear of the sub, there is massive amounts of air escaping where it should be sealed.

Again, every failed sub, which is not a ton, but I think I have 4 or 5, and all have had water.  My sub is still working thankfully, but it too had a lot of water in it.

No such silicone or grease comes with the Episode subs.

Zip System Stretch Tape and silicon are your friends right now.

And would probably be a good idea for future installations too.

Did that enclosure have any gap when it arrived?

Those ends need a lot more screws- if the cover isn't rabbeted, there's no way I would expect it to remain flat and sealed when temperature extremes are hit.

I would use a sealant like 3M 4200, not silicone.
My mechanic told me, "I couldn't repair your brakes, so I made your horn louder."

Ive had the exact smae results as you Mike.
4 or 5 failed subs in the last 3-4 years.
No instructions for pea gravel, the last I looked anyway.
No extra grease.
Snap doesnt tell you about doing anything extra, its supposed to be a duried burial sub anyway, lol.

Every one I put in I clear silicone in and around both sides where the snorkel meets the tub and also at the 'waterproof' connector where the wire comes out.
I havent done all around the tub but it looks like that part is sealed well, the parts I mentioned is where I think the sh1t happens.

I actually have 1 right now I think is bad and was probably calling snap this week.

I am looking to move away from this system and looking at NEAR.

Just watched the video.
Im wondering if sealing all the way around would even help if it splits apart like that, thats a pretty good gap.
It cant hurt though, so why not....
