I recently had to do some updating on a building with a few 66 blocks and I realized I haven't seen many of them lately in supply houses... but I just checked Grainger, and they have a decent supply of such stuff.

Anybody know of another company that still stocks the stuff used with 66 blocks? You just KNOW you'll need some at some point!

This latest customer could have used a telephone distribution block, which lets you punch down three phone lines and has several RJ25 jacks (3 pair, 6P6C to be exact. RJ45 plugs are too wide for this connector.) This was a commonly stocked item as little as five years ago. Today people don't seem to know it ever existed. Any idea where to get these?

When CBS decided not to stay on DirecTV, I suddenly had to so some antenna work I haven't done for more than a decade... and behold, the splitters, TV/FM diplexers, and some other stuff is no longer available?

Anybody know where to get antenna accessories? The sure test would be an FMTVD, which splits the FM band off of a wideband UHF/VHF signal.
~ ~ ~ ~ ~
Are there any audio goodies that we ought to have a few of on hand, that you haven't seen for sale for a while?

BTW, All Electronics in Van Nuys, CA is a good source for some of this stuff.
A good answer is easier with a clear question giving the make and model of everything.

The tried and true Channel Master is still around and you can order a bunch of their stuff direct from their website.
Amazon.com is also your friend for stuff like this, tons of it.
There seems to be no markup for this stuff, for dealers anymore. It's where ever you can get it is good. Like most things these days :(

One thing that has changed for OTA (Over-The-Air) installs over the years, is the need for an LTE filter.

Strong cellular signals are a problem in a few locations and you need the filter to keep the AGC circuit in the OTA tuners from crushing the signals.

FWIW:

Channel Master does have a dealer program, but it's really just a 10 off deal, and they don't give that on their newest Omni+ 50.

The Omni+ is the new go to antenna. Small form factor that works great. So popular they have a hard time keeping them in stock. The demand from the cord cutters is high.

66 blocks and associated parts are far from "antique."  Go to a commercial cabling disty.  There are many out there.

Three big ones off the top of my head:

Here's how antique this stuff is: I haven't thought of this company name for at least a dozen years.

Ok, I have a question regarding "old" stuff.

Recently I lost my CBS station on Dish Network. Is there something I could use to add an OTA near the dish and use the same cable? If there is such a thing, what would I need at both ends?

Thanks,
KOT

Your area might have CBS back on the "air," whatever air is these days. Check it before wasting any more time on this thread.

In the Los Angeles area, we lost three stations, 2, 9, and a miscellaneous number that was a Nat Geo or BBC channel. I switched one client over to his antenna, since he already had a modulated H24 output available throughout the house.

Anyway... I do antennas. If it comes to it, contact me for advice. I've done antennas from the simplest (a piece of RG with the hot lead sticking out of each end, that I used as a passive rebroadcaster for a Pronto remote) to several systems that had more than 400 antenna signal outputs and another 60 outputs for FM tuners. That's why I'm aware of the stuff that can be used for signal distribution, if it can be found these days.

Yes, my local CBS is broadcasting over the air. Roughly 55 miles to my northwest. I was able to pick it up before August 1. But afterwards I was not.

I can assume two things, when they switched frequencies. I lost the ability to receive it. Or that not only did they switch frequencies, but they also lowered power.

Or two, when I was able to receive it on June 30 or so. They were using a temporary transmitter that had a better “view” for my antenna. It when they went back to their main transmitter on August 2nd. It was in a different area that my antenna has trouble with.

KoT,
check for signal strength and orientation using tvfool.com and using antennaweb.org.

This issue first came up for me as two issues: DirecTV no longer carried CBS and the local CBS station had changed frequencies. At that time, tvfool did not show any OTA transmitter for CBS in Los Angeles, but within two days it was back. Rescanning brought the OTA signal back, and then a day or two ago CBS reappeared on DirecTV.

For me, Dish and my local CBS channel are in contract dispute. So in order for me to receive CBS, I would need to go OTA. If I can get my TV to receive it, I could possible talk Dish into sending me an OTA dongle to plug into my Hopper to receive it there.

I’ve been wanting to unplug my sat cable to see if I even can receive CBS from the same area the dish is at. But I haven’t had the time. But when I do, everyone else is home. Thus watching Dish.

I assume this CBS issue is only in certain markets? My DirecTV gets CBS just fine. They cut off Smithsonian channel though.

Dish lost CBS & hbo. DirecTv is fine, other than the equipment going down hill, like it was thrown off of a cliff

Well, "DirecTV is fine," if you don't count losing CBS, Smithsonian, and another local channel for a while. They're fine now.
