Hi All,

Anyone have a favorite wall control switch they use? Screen is below, Sn@p does not sell a switch. I need a wall option besides a remote.

[Link: snapav.com]

I found something like this...

[Link: bhphotovideo.com]

Just not sure what works well. In the room in question, there is no real control system and no trigger on the projector.

TIA,
Tom

Snap seems to have made a dumb marketing decision -- they don't show a switch you can buy from them if a switch is what you want. That one that TommyBoy found is sold by Da-Lite. Gee, Snap, if you don't sell a switch, you're forcing me to look up competing product. Why wouldn't I consider buying the screen from the competition?
A good answer is easier with a clear question giving the make and model of everything.

I'm not familiar with the dragonfly screens but we install SI screens (they use a somfy motor) and come with the wall box. Depending on the connectors on the screen you may be able to utilize the Da-Lite switch or a somfy switch [Link: somfysystems.com].

How is the projector being controlled? I have done it where the projector and amp didn't have a 12V trigger so got a 12V power supply and wired it into a relay. Closed the relay when projector Power ON command was sent which brought the screen down, when projector off was sent it opened the relay and screen went up.
You can't fix stupid

I actually have an extra DA Lite 3 button panel at my desk I could send you.  They came with the lifts that we used to install but they didn't match the decor on our boats, so we never used them.

Are you using an AVR? Make sure it has a 12V trigger. The screen may have come with a remote- the one I installed had one.

Did you see this on the SnapAV link?-

"An external IR receiver is also included for your convenience, along with an RF-capable remote, while control drivers allow for simple system integration. Our 12V trigger even supports anything from 3-12 volts."

I would take it off your hands for sure. I can send a check or make it up to you at CEDIA, whatever works. Do you want RC Mail, or FB message, or what...

SWO, I actually had quoted an SI screen to begin with, but there's a bit of a backorder and it didn't work on the client timeline.

Why do you want a wall switch instead of a 12v trigger from the projector or AVR?

You could also just wire a 12v power supply through a standard electrical switch into the 12v trigger input.

Thanks, John. I'll get at you tonight...

No AVR in the conference room, no trigger on the projector. A remote is fine, but they can walk away, thus the need for the switch.

No control system either? How is this room, in general, being controlled in the first place?

The Snap screen is very quiet, easily adjustable for limits and can be controlled via RS-232, 12V trigger or IR (either by using the built-in sensor or wired from a controller's IR output).

What makes Stewart a "sh!t ton better"? A switch? That's awesome!

Quality of the material of the screen, motor, and they offer a switch. Fine adjustments, the design to keep the screen tight, I could go on.

Oh and it is used by the film industry as the standard.

Short story. I had a fixed perf screen that was twelve years old, client upgraded the projector, the screen material needed an upgrade as well. Called Stewart, they pulled the original design build from the archives, built a new screen material, shipped, and it was an exact match to the original frame, so no redesign to anything, just pulled the screen down, unsnapped the old perf screen and snapped on the new one, and rehung.

1/2 the price.

Plus they will custom build the screen to any size, color, etc.

Just try them once and you will never be popped again and they will offer you a switch ;>)

Snap does offer this: [Link: snapav.com]

It goes in line with the projector's AC power and when the power draw raises from the projector being turned on, the wireless 12V trigger is activated to drop the screen.

Also, the remote that comes with the screen comes with a wall-mounted cradle and is RF so it doesn't need to be removed from the cradle to control the screen. You could double-sided tape it in the cradle or something if you're concerned about it walking away.
