My RV came with a cheap DVD player. It only has IR remote which is a problem as one of the TVs is outside and out of reach. I'm not interested in IR extenders and CEC can suck my %#@^.
I want to get something that's RF capable.
I'm not about to put in Harmony, URC or C4 just to get damn BD to work.

As a secondary need, I would like for the BD to be able to read content from external USB HDD where I will load a few hundred movies in whatever format the BD will support.

Is an older, cheap PlayStation the best way to go about it?

Get a Nvidia Shield TV, BT remote and will play almost any movie format.

Just doesn't have a optical drive. But you can add one.

I ordered one, thanks.
Even if I don't like the functionality in the RV, I've been meaning to get one for the house to play with.

Thanks again.

-B, that's a really good find. Thanks.
I want to replace the possibly cheapest DVD player I've ever seen.
I don't need 4K in the RV as none of the TVs support 4K anyway.

I am looking for a WiFi BD player so that at the RV parks or even on the road (using Mobile Hotspot) we can have some streaming capability.
This POS comes as wired network only, which is stupid in RVs that are not prewired for anything.

Hoping to find one with the RF remote to boot.

Hmm, I could possibly use that if I can't find an RF BD player.
The POS that's in right now only supports wired network -- stupid since the RV didn't come with single CATx cable.

There is a WiFi Ranger in the rig -- it's an RV device to allow to pick up weak WiFi at RV parks.
It's an all in one unit with no external ports or wiring capability. It's basically a 12VDC unit tied into house batteries.

If I get a WiFi BD player, I should be able to use an app to control it.
This would be my plan B as I hate using apps rather than hard button remote.

Does it actually have a stand alone DVD player? Most I’ve seen have some sort of all in one system that looked similar to a car head unit.
Civil War reenactment is LARPing for people with no imagination.

Or, since it’s an RV, you could forget all the gadgets and get outside and enjoy nature.

I say that as I’m posting on my iPad via WiFi, with a tv show streaming on a fire stick from my own Dish Hopper that’s at home, all while at the river 😁

In my defense though, I did take a few minute earlier this evening to watch some Canadian Geese 😂

Casey, yes. In this RV the BD is an actual, Sony BDP-S1700 unit.
I've only seen BD in head units in cars and passenger vans, not full-size RVs.

It's not for me. I'll be busy driving, trying not to kill us in this monstrosity.
All of this TV/BD thing is for the kids so that they can leave me the hell alone. :-)

Lose the WiFi ranger, put in a cradle point and use an EA1 if you want os3. The new GUI control with gesture control actually makes using an app doable. If you don’t care about that then I’m sure at this point you have a HC250 or 800 you’ve pulled out of a job laying around!

You said it’s for the outside tv too. So does it have some sort of splitter or switcher?

The all in one units I’ve seen are DVD. Don’t think I’ve seen any that do BD.
