35 ft Proconnect cable rated at 18gps. Has directional ends so it may be amplified.

The Optoma has two HDMI inputs. HDMI 2 is labelled HDCP2.2/HML

Everything goes through Yamaha receiver and Yamaha is set with video processing on at 4K

Using HDMI 2 on the projector, I can get Roku and Cheap Bluray player to work. Roku registers at 4K 60fps.

Everything works on HDMI 1 but only at 30fps.

What am I doing wrong? I would like everything to work on HDMI 2 if that is the only input that delivers 60fps

That projector only has 1 2.2 input on HDMI 2. Can't use HDMI 1 for 4K

I think he realizes that. But the appleTV and netbox won’t work at all on hdmi 1.

The projector itself takes quite a long time to sync whenever I change input. One thing that surprises me is that even though I have Yamaha video processing turned on to 4K, the projector info about resolution as it syncs can vary. For example I did see it display 1080p after the Apple TV reset its resolution back to 1080p. I thought the receiver would upconvert every source to 4K and that's all I would ever see on the projector. Maybe it's a defective receiver but I hardly ever see Yamaha fail.

Is it possible that the HDCP 2.2 HDMI 2 input on the projector will not accept anything less than 4K or HDR? I would think that it's backwards compatible with older standards. I'll chart the sources and their ability to play on the two inputs if anyone can make sense of it:

I was able to set the Apple TV to 4K HDR when on the HDMI 1 input but it had a very washed out look and had some banding. At this setting I could not get it to work on HDMI2. On top of this, I can get the Apple TV to do 4K HDR on HDMI 2 when I bypass surround receiver. I've tried different cables between Apple TV and receiver.

I'm not familiar with Yamaha, but if it has a Thru mode I would use that and not have it scale to 4K. If you plug the appletv into the projector and it works then my guess is the receiver is messing with the EDID or HDCP. Switching to Thru mode might fix it.

I would suspect that cable. What more can you tell us about it? the chip sets in the self powered cables can be dicey at that length. if a new cable is possible I would look to Metra.

Yeah, what others have said. Turn off any video processing on the receiver.

Also, look into Ethereal. One should not trust a "house" cable to do an Ethereal type of install.

Last, get used to the occasionally rough PQ on the Optoma. I have the UHD60 and the banding and the whites are tough sometimes.

The real question is why 60 fps on 4K?
What are you watching that can supply (do not say 4K/BD Player, as there is really only one movie)?

That's a good point. Are you saying most movies on Netflix on Apple TV or Roku are not available in 60fps? We are trying only because the customer likes to get the highest performance out of his stuff. If there is virtually no content that produces that I'll let him know. I just spoke with tech support at Metra today and he recommend one of the optical HDMI cables rates 24 gps max. I'm trying to get my distributor in Toronto to order it and can't wait to see if it makes a difference.
