I have a customer with a Polk XM Tuner (Component size model, just came out a few months ago) set up for their whole house enjoyment. They also have a Xantech SPLCD touchpad for remote access to the XM Tuner as well as their AM/FM Tuner, Cable Box, CD Player, DVD Player, etc. The gear is controlled via a Xantech IR repeater system running over cat5. The problem I am having is this: I have learned all the Polk XM remote codes into the Xantech touchpad software several times (Dragon Drop IR), and the codes work fine, except for the Category and Preset buttons (the left, right, up and down on the remote). When pressing category down, the XM tuner will change its display from what is playing to the category list, but no matter how many times you press down, it will not drop or increase to the next category. I have not been back to this house in a few weeks, so it could also be the Select Down button. Excuse my forgetfulness. However, I can get it to scroll down one at a time by doing the following: Press select down (or left on the remote) and then press category, and then ok. Using the factory remote from in front of the IR system works fine, as does using the factory remote in remote IR-enabled rooms (i.e. vol ctrls with IR). Has anyone seen this problem before, and if so, any suggestions or remedies? Once again, I have relearned the codes into Dragon Drop at LEAST 3 or 4 times already. Thanks.

I've had a similar problem with a Marantz 5400 remote and a yamaha DVD player , I learned the up,down, right, left, buttons from the dvd player into the remote but when I tryed to navigate around in a DVD menu I could only move once in any direction , I could move back and forth but not more than once in the same direction . I tryed relearning the codes , I tryed making each button a macro with the same code entered twice but NO LUCK . Finally I made a seperate set of up,down, right, left buttons on the touch screen plus the hard buttons up,down, left, right and I can now navigate around the DVD menu but you have to jump back and forth from the buttons (hit right on the hard button then right on the touchscreen button)etc.etc. Its not a great solution but atleast I dont have to get off the couch and grab my yamaha remote every time I watch a DVD !
Sometimes you just gotta do a ball check and get errr done !!

Try calling both Xantech and Polk Tech suppoort with this problem, you may find there is a compatibility problem with the frequencies used. I had a situation with Niles and Sherwood Newcastle and found Xantech had the right solution. Engineers don't usually take these things into consideration when developing products!
