Have a customer that is hard of hearing. I connected his sennhieser headphones to the tv, but they aren’t loud enough. Anyone have experience with a line level amplifier that you know works?

I've used this to distribute headphone jacks around a boat.

Duct Tape's suggestion is likely to put this issue to bed with very little difficulty. It is made to do what you need.

Sure, you could get a 5 watt per channel amp, and connect 330 ohm resistors in series with each output to limit current to the 'phones, and solder up whatever cables and adaptors are needed to get the signal to be right.

But buying the right thing at the outset is the simpler solution, and less expensive of your life energy than doing it yourself.

As for me, I quit making little doodads like this for people because of the inordinate amount of time involved in putting together all the simple little pieces. The time involved in putting it into a case and connecting it to power is more than I wanted to devote to the entire project!
A good answer is easier with a clear question giving the make and model of everything.

Thanks. I’ll get one ordered. Have you ever used one with wireless headphones?

Fins,
I don't understand your reaction to that.

It could be humor, I guess.

I didn’t ask for instructions on how to build an amplifier. At no time did I say anything that suggested I was willing to even consider do so. I asked for an off the shelf piece that someone had experience with.

It didn't answer the original question and your post was a bit long.

My mom would become frustrated by my dad and sometimes, she would say "Ask him for the time and he tells you how to build a watch".

Not sure how much you can boost the signal before clipping begins- maybe something with an equalizer so you can boost the mids, where the user is likely to have the most hearing loss. The problem is inability to hear dialog, right?

Fins,
you aren't the only person reading this, and this is not the only day that your question and answers to it are relevant. We're here to share. That's what I was doing.

I'm sorry your eyeballs got scratched by information that might help someone else, while not hurting you at all.

No, I'm not trying to drive you back to drinking. I can't imagine that you would want anyone to treat you like a snowflake, as if you're so sensitive that a comment here would do that!

Your reply was totally unneeded because anyone that read the first two posts would have easily have drawn the conclusion that a $20 off the shelf part would make more sense than building your own. Your rambling served no purpose.

I agree. They have doohickeys for just about anything. The link above looks like just the ticket for this application.

Having a lot of experience with dealing with deaf people, I know all to well how the vast majority will fight you to the death about not getting the devices they actually need (hearing assist devices)! They have no problem wasting hours of your time in their delusion that their hearing is not that bad.

I'm guessing the Sennheiser headphones he has now, are just the regular consumer ones.
If your customer does have a hearing problem; there is NO line amp you are going to get, that is going to fix the issue.
Sennheiser makes 14 different models of hearing assist headphones. Here are some for $249 MSRP

Nice! What are your thoughts on assistive loops? Have had a handful of scenarios that led to WilliamsAV gear, but not too many takers when it comes to cost. Obvious separator being individual needs vs groups but between that tech, Bluetooth, and cochlear (
