Sound United is the parent company of Denon & Marantz (and Polk and Definitive Technology). With this acquisition they will control a huge % of the receivers market.

So that's a thing...

Obviously that's a bunch of market share in one swoop! However it may be a case of too much of the same thing.
Onkyo/Pioneer/Integra are pretty much the same thing with different skins on top.
Marantz and Denon... same thing.

Will they all get HEOS / the same remote / the same GUI in the future?
Well, probably.
Will people still be loyal sheep and follow their brand name? Yes. Probably...
Will SNAP AV buy Sound United?
Well...
This industry is not getting cheaper and cheaper, we're simply convincing ourselves that we have to push the cheapest option to customers.

“Alex, I’ll take once important AV companies for $500”
No, I don’t want you to read the answer, I’m literally offering you $500 for the company.

Next up?

3 dead links, or is my phone not doing internet today?

And then there were 3

Yammy
Sony
Sound United

(Not including any of the small boutique brands like Anthem, Audio Control, NAD, etc)

If the small boutique brands were smart they would partner with someone like Fusion and license their streaming software for placement into AVR's, Bars, range of wifi speakers etc.

Its one of the reasons I don't sell Anthem anymore. I can do much more with Marantz.

The article about Paradigm, Anthem and Martin Logan says Anthem has 30% of the AVR market, at #4.

Several tried PlayFi, for the reasons you speak, the SOFTWARE failed miserably.

Looks like RoonLabs is making some traction though.

LOL, what article? There is no way in hell Anthem (as nice as they are) has 30% of the AVR market. BS! That is so far off the rails of reality.

I'm guessing it is a quote taken out of context. Like it is 30% of specialty dealers use Anthem or something like that.

I think they put a '0' on the end of Anthem's market share... or, more likely, they should have put the '0' in front of the 3... followed by a decimal point.

They would be below the margin of error in most countries around the world, surely?

I hope they don't buy Yamaha.
I came into this game for the action, the excitement. Go anywhere, travel light, get in, get out, wherever there's AV trouble, a man alone.

I know. Then they would be selling motorcycles, engines, musical instruments, and Japanese military technology (just to name a few things that Yamaha is involved in).

A Heos imbedded grand piano. That would be something.

The one that was at the top of this site on the day I posted-

[Link: cepro.com]

From the article-

"All three brands fared well in the recent CE Pro 100 Brand Analysis:

Anthem is the No. 1 brand of home theater preamps/processors, with a 30% marketshare (tied with Integra for the top spot). Anthem is the No. 4 AVR brand with a 31% marketshare."

I thought that maybe, whoever might have read my comment would check it out. It was in CEPro, after all but I guess I ignored that as the source.
