You’ll be sorry.
You really won’t gain anything but will have to spend a lot to get back to zero

Why would you bother trying to customize the interface of a remote? It’s not worth the time. People don’t customize their iPhones. Use what works, get in, get out, cash the check.

If better customization of the remote is the top goal, then RTI is clearly your best choice.

Why? Give a reason. He wants customization that you can't do with C4.

You really won’t gain anything but will have to spend a lot to get back to zero

You assume he won't gain anything but he might gain everything that he wants.

Maybe he doesn't work for Best Buy and he wants to provide the client something that the client really wants.

Could be the client wants a gate opener button on every page of the C4 remote, or to get to the shades page and back to DTV with a single press each way. Who knows.

Ummm "people don't customize their iphones" you sure about that?

$125-$175 a hour to customize the remote seems worth it to me.

If you hate RTI just say so, so the OP understands where you're coming from.

I will now hop on my 3 story tall soapbox for this. As far as Control4 goes for control, I like it, I have it in my house. I'm fine living without the customization so that's not a selling part for me.

As far as how I feel about them as a company is a little different. Let's say you go out and sell C4 and you do well with it as far as your company numbers go but you're not doing enough to keep mama C4 happy at some point and you become part of the purge... Now YOUR clients are out there with a control system that you can't support and even the system in you own home now needs someone else to keep it running. You're in a real crappy spot all around because their software checks in your license and once you're terminated you're screwed.

Ichbinbose and I have discussed this issue numerous times and both seem to agree that is sucks that as a company they won't let you continue to support your clients that you brought to C4.

I can see that, but still all points apply. Replace "client/customer" with "OP"

This scenario is not C4 specific. Every major control system company does the same thing.

Yes i am end user. But i do programming for living various languages. So not a regular end user..
So i like customizing...Control4 seems more like apple..Same reason i dont have iphones.
I dont want to keep paying for 4sight to just access the app.
Control4 support is provided by a remote dealer at the moment. But my AV dealer that i have been buying from for long time is RTI dealer.
I use mix of control4 and lutron lighting. So its not a big deal to use everything from lutron instead.
