We're looking for a player that's pretty simple but also might have some things that only older product has. It's for providing audio and video together, or audio alone. We're running audio through an analog mixer and a Roland V-40HD video switcher.

I'm thinking the first thing I'm asking for might be the rarest item:

*Transport and Menu Control buttons on the front of the unit.
*Play CDs, DVDs, BDs and memory sticks.*
*MP3 file playback is a bonus, but not necessary.
*remote control.
*HDMI output.
*Analog audio output (not a deal-killer).
*VGA output, not necessary but would free up an HDMI input to the video switch.
*We have ZERO interest in streaming anything with this unit.

*That is, USB flash drive, aka thumb drive, pen drive, gig stick, flash stick, jump drive, disk key, disk on key (after the original M-Systems DiskOnKey drive from 2000),[1] flash-drive, memory stick (not to be confused with the Sony Memory Stick), USB key, USB stick or USB memory

A good answer is easier with a clear question giving the make and model of everything.

I think the closest you'd get would be the Denon or the Tascam:

You TOTALLY CRACKED ME UP ! ! !

About twenty years ago Radio Shack had about the best ad I had ever seen for A/V equipment. I was too cheap to have it made into a T shirt, though.

It showed a stack of two or three pieces of equipment, with RCA jacks, S jacks, speaker terminals, power outlets... everything you might dream of having (in 1985).

Below this absolute MASS of connectors were the two words:

ANY QUESTIONS?

20 years ago would have been 1999. 1985 would have been 34 years ago.
