Does anyone know what is AB policy on missing cable boxes?

Last July when a tech came out for a trouble call. We went over the account, and discovered that there are 3 boxes attached to the account that were no longer here. My landlady recalled that they were returned with no receipt. This might have been around the time that Metrocast was the provider and then AB bought them out.

Now it turns to find out that those boxes are still on the account and is being charged. (auto payments, thus she doesn't check the bill.)

So what are her options? AB are insisting that they still here and were never turned in. They are insisting that their system can not see them, no 2-way communication.

My thought is to have a police report written up and turn it over to AB. But she's afraid that AB will charge her or have her go through her insurance company.

I told her when one of my Dish Joey's went missing. I had a police report written up and Dish just removed it from my account. No charge to me or home owner's insurance.

Have any of you gone through this with AB? If so, what happened?

My customer renovated his condo and the GC stored everything on a storage, months later, we realized the cable boxes were missing (3). customer didnt know what happened, forgot if returned, picked up, lost whatever.

he ended up paying these MFs $900 and some change. they are without a shadow of doubt the WORST company in all aspects.

Sounds right. Same happens here with Spectrum few times I heard about it. There is no paper trail here except from subcontractors. However they usually just remove from account and call it done. At least for existing customers. Bet that is not the case for service cancels and equipment that never gets returned.

Well I hope all goes well for her. She’s been at this house and had cable for 40 years. No matter the company who provided the service.

The boxes that are missing, presumably with the company, are standard definition boxes. But I don’t have the slightest clue how much they would cost.

I just turned in a customers modem for them as we replaced it with a customer owned modem. I filmed the whole drop off at suddenlink and got the employee on video taking it from me and me asking if she needed anything else and her reply.

Sent the video to the client and backed it up to icloud. Not taking chances anymore. Also do this for returning RMA's and phones to assurion insurance.

I would ask her who returned them. I doubt AB accepts returns without giving a receipt- Time Warner/Spectrum doesn't- I have never been able to leave boxes without one and I picked up & returned a helluva lot of boxes over the years.

When did the provider change over to AB? How much has she paid, if they were returned at that time? How many times has someone from the provider looked at the equipment from outside or on site? I would grind the provider- they do make mistakes.
My mechanic told me, "I couldn't repair your brakes, so I made your horn louder."

When I take stuff to Comcast, they always give a receipt showing what's returned. I text or email a picture of it to the client.

Had a box or two missing on one client's account, that they may have paid on for years. "Comcast entered a "missing hardware" report into their computer, and said it would get taken off the account.

There has to be some flex in their systems. I'm working for a client now who has a spare DVR shrink wrapped inside a cabinet, that the installer brought in, didn't need, and forgot to take with him.
There is no truth anymore. Only assertions. The internet world has no interest in truth, only vindication for preconceived assumptions.
