So, we know Sn@p had a bad run of Wattbox units (WB-600's) a few years ago and they are still replacing them as they rear their heads and die on us in the field (at the worst possible time), randomly. The ip controlled outlets just stopped working.
Recently I've had a few of the WB-600 "replacement model",WB-700-IPV-12 units (three so far) that have had the odd (upper/odd numbered) outlets die. Actually they seem to toggle off for a while then back on. Which totally confuses the homeowner and does who knows what to the electronics we have connected to them.....power on, power off, power on, power off continuously until we arrive to see what the issue is.
So, the question is have any of you had the same issues yet? Just checking to see if it's only me.........

I have probably 3-400 out there and have seen I believe 4 of them show an issue as you describe. Though for us the upper bank of outlets shuts off completely. 

Not that model, but this week I had a WB-300-IP-3 more or less die on me. I set it up and it was on OvrC, then a few days later it showed up as disconnected. When I got over to check it out, it had power to it, but it wasn't putting out power and the Internet LED wasn't on.

I can only guess that maybe someone was goofing with breakers while it was doing an update. It doesn't show up in the utility. When I connect it to a switch, it'll show net activity for a few minutes, then blink out, come back on and repeat. I guess it's bricked, pretty much. Got to call it in on Monday.

I haven't seen any bad in the last few years.

Probably have about 30-40 of them out in the field.

Yes...we have a client that had multiple 5 port units die when a breaker was flipped. Breaker flipped...unit died. Breaker flipped again...new unit died again.

We've also had multiple 12 port models either have banks die or do the On-OVRC-off OVRC-shuffle.

Certain Snap could chime in here, but let me offer a thought- could some sort of protection be built in the forces the relay open to the bank of (or all) outlets? Would make sense if so.

Couldn't this same thing happen if there a power outage?

Around here, if the power company has a problem, there will be a momentary drop two times as the system automatically shunts to a different sub station. Third time it goes down, it stays down. Surely an event like this cannot be good.

Additionally, if there's a generator in the mix, there's the momentary drop as the power shunts to the generator, and here again, it's not usually a good thing for electronics.

I would think the design includes protection for something other than 100% stable supply voltage.

We have a 3 rack system where the 700 model wattbox did the same thing. All 3 of them failed (at different but close timeframes) with the odd or even.going out and then coming back on soon thereafter. They replaced all 3 but, weird.

Have a good client emailing me tonight saying things are going on a date off. He's on newer 12 controlled port wattboxes

I'm guessing you'll find the odd numbered outlets doing this. Let us know what you find out.

I've had a few loose all of the odd numbered outlets. Snap replaced then quickly. Based on this thread I'm guessing its not that unusual.
I've never had a SurgeX unit fail, so I may need to go back to them

It's 2019 and we're talking about power supply units that have failing outlets. This industry......
