I’m tired of not knowing how to do any of these phone systems. If you had to start from scratch which phone system would you guys recommend?

I know Panasonic is the main one in residential, but I want to take it as an opportunity to also do business phones. Never seen a Panasonic phone in any commercial Environment.

So if you only had one system to sell and learn which one would you pick?

Thanks in advance.

In all seriousness, the one you can get the most support with.

Many, many years ago, I made the mistake of trying to do a large phone system. If you are not a phone system guy (been doing it for years) and do them regularly, then it is very complicated. The names of some features, where they are buried in the deep menus, and how they actually work, is complicated.
I also made the mistake of not buying it from a good place. Meaning I thought I would get good support from my distributor but when I needed help on a few things, they left me high & dry.
If I had it to do again (and was actually willing to try a phone system again), I would absolutely get it from Capitol - their phone tech guys & support are well known.

Not saying you can't pull this off. I'm just saying it requires a different set of skills. It is its own category and takes time to learn.

Grandstream seems to be the Ubiquiti of phone systems. I dont support manufacturers that don't value supporting us properly. Another +1 for Capitol, great team there.

I used to do Panasonic systems, as mentioned above they can be complicated as there are so many features built in that have nothing to do with small residential systems. And if you don't do them regularly, forget about it. It will feel like you have to learn the programming everytime as it is too easy to miss some setting. I eventually started just using the programmer from the distributer we bought them from.
A few years ago tried talkswitch, which became Fortinet or Fortivoice. They were much easier to set up, sort of geared to the small business guy that could manage things on his own if he wanted.
Now I am dealing with clients asking about what needs to be changed because they want to get rid of their landline and old phone systems. People just use their cell phones now.
It seems to be a common theme, the only people that call us on a land line are telemarketers.
The only time we used the landline was to order take out, and even that is being done more and more on a computer.

Happy to assist on phone systems. There are a number of potential options to explore. Perhaps you can reach out to me and we can explore details...

We've done a few SIP phone systems using Jive as the service provider. Not sure how they compare towards phone system with a local PBX but it's super easy to support remotely, we make money (reoccurring), and seems to be "reasonable" in price. But I'm guessing there is a "value" sweet spot between the number of users and a SIP system. It's also incredibly easy if the business has multiple locations.

Thanks Fred.

What brands do you offer?

I’ll probably call you sometime later this week.
