I think there was another thread here on this but couldn't find it.

I have a situation where I just need to feed an ARC/CEC connection from a Smart TV to a Sonos amp using Cat6.

They will only use the Smart TV features built into a Samsung Frame TV paired with Gen 2 Sonos Amp. They will use the Samsung smart remote.

I would like to take advantage of the CEC so I they adjust volume up/down using the Samsung remote it will ramp volume up/down on the Sonos amp without having to set up an IR link.

Assuming this would actually work, which is unknown since it's CEC, I'm looking for an extender that isn't over the top in terms of price that will support ARC.

Any suggestions.

Atlona AT-HDREX100CEAKIT will do that. There's a toslink in at the display side and toslink out at the source.

HDbaseT doesn't carry ARC so Atlona built that with toslink passthrough going back to the source. CEC still works.

I'm completely missing what this is about. My ignorance, probably.

Category cables are used for ethernet connections. Where in that scheme is audio run over ethernet?
A good answer is easier with a clear question giving the make and model of everything.

Category cables certainly can be used for ethernet, But in this case we're talking about HDBaseT. He simply wants the Audio Return Channel of the TV to carry back across the HDBaseT to the Sonos Amp. Something thats not int eh HDBaseT Spec apparently, but several models do claim to support.

Like this Vanco Model for example.

(I'd like to add that in no way have I ever tried this. This is undoubtedly going to end in anguish and heartache.)

I assume that it was you who called us earlier today on this.
Stewart and I discussed it and we are going to do some tests to see what works.
I am correct that this must be done over Cat/x cable?
