Looking to integrate an Elan system with a gas fireplace. I was able to trigger one on and off with an RTI system years ago and it's still working fine.

Are there any that you have used that integrate well?

Thank you in advance,

Ryan

Figure out where the fireplace switch is connected to the system, if you short the contacts with a wire and the fireplace fires up. This is where you tie your control system into. Tie this into your contact closure and program away. Having a timer on this is a wise move and will keep you out of trouble.

I had a client with a house on a lake. Had a huge picture window facing the lake and a huge open gas fire pit, inside the living room, in front of the window. He wanted to be able to be out in the boat at night and light the fire pit from his smart phone - to wow his friends. He had two cats and a dog so I talked him out of it. Unlike Napalm, nobody likes the smell of fur in the morning...

Thanks guys for the feedback I really appreciate it, especially David's info. I'll follow up with the client and see if he has any pets we need to be concerned about :)
