Client is asking about which door lock to use, that they can access remotely via app. I am going to let them buy it, and just make sure Wi-Fi or a base station, whatever, is situated, and not set expectations too high. What brand have you used, that you have some confidence in?

Just app based, no control system? If so, I’d just go with nest. Btw, you can get them through Snap

I have a Yale/Nest (along with a Nest door intercom thing) at my house and at my shop and they have both been VERY reliable and consistent in performance. Also, Nest/Yale tech support was helpful on a Saturday FWIW.

They have a Nest thermostat already, so maybe...
Do they have batteries to change - how often??

I have Nest at my house, got it a few months ago, used multiple times a day, batteries fine so far.
App is good, especially if they already have Nest equipment its a no brainer. We've had more issues with our nest thermostat than lock and it ain't much.
I wish I went with Nest cameras and nest doorbell

What is the roadmap for integrating them with RTI? One of those odd things I just haven't looked into. My experience with locking systems is limited to Crestron/Baldwin locks, none of my RTI customers have asked, figured I would get up to speed with it at my own place before suggesting it.

I’ve had a Schlage BE469 installed at home for years, it gets used a lot. When the temperature drops below -30c you can tell it’s working harder to unlock the door but I’ve had no issues. Simple solution is to install fresh batteries beginning of December every winter. I change batteries maybe twice a year.
I previously worked for a Wireless internet provider, we did a R & D project for alarm.com platform. I installed about 15 Schlage and kwikset deadbolts and handles. Only issue I found was the kwikset were absolutely horrible for inclusion range with some z-wave controllers. The controller would have to be basically touching the lock. Outside of that your biggest performance issue is gonna be tied to how square the door was installed and how good your latch alignment is.
