Sorry, no specific help with your issue. But is going wired completely out of the question? His latency and overall connection reliability will thank him.
Hey man...nah, not completely out of the question, but it would cost him...them, rather, the family. He was a college kid in town with his family and he was totally cool with it. I suppose the "HOA" is the real client. We installed a wifi network in the entire building. Of course it would be possible (theoretically, don't know if conduits in the unit to get to his room are obstructed or not) to install a switch where our cable comes in and get it to his location, but, that's not something we would typically do just so some kid could play C.O.D. If they were willing to pay for that, we might, but it's not a big enough deal to them really. Plus, we'd have to manage that switch as well, which isn't something we'd want to do...just so someone could play C.O.D. in a particular bedroom.
That being said, though, Mr. Tonks, do you think that putting a wifi to ethernet adapter (it's been so long I can't even remember what to call it anymore, I usually focus on other things) and plugging it into the ethernet port on the PS4 would help? He says that he doesn't have any problems with it in Nashville, it's just down here at his family's condo. It makes me think that it could be something with a network setting on our network, though not likely since every other device works fine. I can't remember the floor plan of the unit, how many concrete walls the signal has to go through between the room and the access point location, etc...should have thought to check on that. But, theoretically, if the wifi adapter in the PS4 was just crappy or going bad, you think an adapter that grabs the wifi signal (my wifi on my phone was strong in the room) and provides an ethernet connection could help? It's something I floated, but I said I didn't know if it would really help or not. Anyway, he was cool with it. I was just wondering.
If anyone has any knowledge about why the PS4 would have shown up in Zone Director as having a PS2 OS, that'd be cool...or why the "special" network we set up would have had such a much lower speed than the regular network in the unit.
Thanks!
