Wondering what your biggest regret of 2018 regarding business within this industry, and products.

Mine is not properly tracking billable hours and continuing to sell Sonos.

The Sonos thing has nothing to do with the performance of their product, but rather their lack of custom channel support or as i say their smoke screen of support they allow us to believe. Marketing directly to our customers after we sell their product is done by no other manufacturer that I have ever sold before.

Biggest regret is trying to use 4 SONOS connects with a control system. Never again. Autonomics FTW.

Feel like I too wish for better billable tracking (and contracts), and have for the past several years. That, and better data tracking. What I’ve found horrifying, yet not regretful about- would be the way we consume media. That change has been an absolute cluster-f and only seems to be getting ramped up. Cheers to reigning in all this and continuing the battle with HDMI! Happy Nee Year folks!

Think I’ll pass on this one. Those memories are pretty fuzzy anyway.

Mine was being uninterested in new customers/jobs. There was a bunch of jobs i didn't quote at all/ took too long to quote or didn't "work" the sales process hard enough and just gave up.

Maybe I'm just getting tired of this crap. Starting to get interested in woodworking. Don't get hdcp issues or have to worry the wood can pass 18gbps.

I often explain to clients' a comparison to our profession and paper shredding. "Paper shredding would be akin to the custom AV/integrator industry -- if the shreds of paper would put themselves back together again."
how in the hell does ernie make money?

No regrets at all.

I'll just be low key until I become dust. Drink wine, chase the bride, ogle the babes on the beach when she's not watching.

Damn, life really is good.

I'm feeling you when it comes to being motivated about creating proposals and sales. Low margins and the likelihood of customers wanting to shop the products just quoted. Hope this gets better in 2019! Also, not having full confidence in designing traditional multi-room audio systems that are not Sonos. What do I say when their friends' Sonos system is less clunky and does more!

Don't apologize for their friends not knowing any better, just do more expensive and higher quality systems.

I'm a firm believer in not selling and installing DIY crap that is manufactured by a company that has zero use for those that helped make it a successful name.

Hell, even Noel Lee did a better job of supporting his dealers.

Just visited St Julian winery last weekend with Friends. Got some good stuff, including some non alcoholic stuff for the kids new years celebration.
I may be schizophrenic, but at least I have each other.
