Earlier this year I went in with SONOS direct (with the buy-in) and have used it quite a bit. a LOT of connect AMPS.
Now They are discontinuing the Connect AMP and forcing a move to the AMP.
(which has had questionable performance from many on here).
After reviewing my options from Denon and Yamaha, I think its time to move on. I did a HEOS amp this week and it had a TON of connectivity features the SONOS does not and I can make better margin and get it same-day with no shipping. Multi-room players and amps in one chassis, ect.
thank you - NEXT!

Just started a handyman service a couple months ago, including of course a/v, after bein out of the biz for about 10 years. Actually havin fun cherry pickin what I do and don't want to do.
Just finishing up a job that I sold a HEOS Drive running 4 separate pairs of inwall/inceiling speakers and a HEOS AMP to a pair of decent bookshelf speakers and an amplified sub to create 5 zones total. Installed new hardware on the front door to their home as well.
Seems to work well enough. Customer is happy. Job paid well.

That's what I have been saying since I saw MisucCast and HEOS- Sonos has nothing that approaches the others as far as useful connections. I sold my Parasound demo preamp to a customer when his B&K crapped out and the difference between those two is glaring but now, I'm using the WXC-50 as my preamp and I have absolutely no problem with the sound quality. I don't like the buy-in and the fact that they want us to buy things we may not need. The possibility that we'll need it later doesn't mean anything- it just ties up our money that could be used for something else.

Techvalley, I hardwired all devices (Drive, Amp, Samsung 75" qled tv, bluray, etc) on the network. Just their phones, tablets, laptops, etc. are wireless.
The only glitch so far is the client is streaming Amazon Prime Music and doesn't
like the way it behaves in Heos vs without.

I am sure you will be happy with the change.

The funny part is dumping a product you know and is battle tested, for another product, then after one install, it's all good.

Not bashing you, but give us another report that n 6-12 months, the minimum gestation time for problems to become apparent.

For what it's worth, I always let you guys beta test for me 😄😄
If you give a year or two good reporting on a product, then I go for it.

I'll throw a little wrinkle into this.... for those of you NOT doing Sonos (Or if you are, I'm not looking for Sonos comparisons..), what has your experience been with HEOS vs MusicCast? Pros/Cons? I know everyone's interface is different, not necessarily better, but how has their support been? Integration? updates brake things? How long to remedy? etc....
I know they both offer zone/amps for the custom channel (one chassis for 4+ zones) and actual rack mount options..... Just looking for some real work feedback. TIA

I haven't use Heos, but 1 issue I've had with MusicCast is it taking control of the volume control on my phone. I have MusicCast on my outdoor system, control via the app on my Android phone. Once I open the app, whenever I press the volume buttons on the side of the phone, it controls MusicCast volume. This happens after I close the app out as well. I have to press the volume button, then select the down arrow to select media or ringtone volumes on my phone. Eventually it will time out and control will go back to the phone, hut we are talking hours. I can go into the app manager and force close the app and that fixes the issue. This has happened on 3 different Android phones. I contacted support, they got back to me like a month later, I responded and never heard back.

Sonos just works and has major brand recognition ala Apple. I don't mind the slim margins and make up for it in labor costs and future job prospects from referrals.

Not to be a total ass-hat but you are making the switch because they improved the amp and are giving you the opportunity to make more money??? I get the new amp possibly has an issue with it's output. But from the sounds of it, if you were ok with the Connect:Amp you will be happy with the new AMP's output regardless of what they are claiming.

If you truly wanted to make money on these types of systems you wouldn't be selling amps anyway. Connects or HEOS equivalents with your flavor multi-channel amp is the better money making approach. The only major plus I see with HEOS is that 5.1 AVR (pretty sweet looking but reading a few reviews it didn't win me over).

Musiccast and HEOS have been out long enough now that I'm sure they are stable. So I guess making a switch now isn't the worst idea. I just can't get the Denon stink of old out of my head. We had so many failures with their AVR's that I don't even want to entertain the idea of using their products again. That $10 extra dollars you make on each product will not pay for the 1-2 extra service call visits that I envision happening with Denon products.

You gotta wonder what kind of conversations occur when your brother-in-law can stream Apple Music or Spotify easily throughout their home and your guy told you you can't.

Most of the guys I deal with didn't get where they are by taking no for an answer, they are always finding ways to solve problems and get what they want.
