Many years ago, I worked for a computer repair company. A woman we we're working with was all worried about the levels of radiation she was being exposed to. So the boss decided we should go prove to here she was safe. We walked her house while the boss metered house, with an analog voltage meter, and an electric turkey thermometer. He held his hand around the end of the cord and up to the meter. He waved the thermometer around and showed her how the needle on the meter didn't move. She was satisfied after that :-D

Ha! I had a customer who thought that a family member had bugged the home and was looking through the surround speakers in the media room. So she place plastic target bags over the speakers. I took one of the bags and put it over my head and talked to her in a normal voice. I asked her if that the bag had silenced my voice at all. She looked at me with disappointment and said no....This lady was a very intelligent doctor! LOL. I feel the smartest are usually the craziest.

I've found that doctors make for some of the dumbest clients.  REALLY smart people overall, but just lack common sense.  Not all, but certainly has been north of the 50% mark.

I’ve got one right now that takes it to a new level. Take over educated doctor, combine with airhead blonde, then multiply by spoiled rich wife factor. She’s a neurologist who at one time latched on to an older man that owns 4 banks. And they are building a new house. Everyone on the project wants to strangle her because every time she shows up (which is often because she doesn’t practice any more) she changes things that she already changed. And she denies things she said previously, even when shown notes and change orders. A friend of hers is working as the decorator, and she finally called up the “husband” and told him he has to get her out of town for 3 months so progress can be made. And the changes she makes are absolutely stupid. I walked in one morning and the GC told me she wanted all of my TV locations moved down 6 inches. I looked at him and said “no, because she has no idea why I placed them where they are at or how the TVs mount to the wall”. It took her 3 days to OK the doorbell.

There is a kitchen remodel contractor in my area who deals with a high percentage of "princess" customers. He thoroughly documents and has the customer sign a change order for any little detail that is updated. Of course, any change order results in a charge.

I gotta say, you’ve got some moves. I’m not sure what they are, but you’ve got them. :)

So, you're now the gray haired dorky guy that drives a girly car.

Is that a step up?

To Fins (OP),

You work hard. You deserve a real watch.

Our professional lives (and livelyhood) have far too many gadgets, most if which will need to be replaced in the next 12-18 months.

My advice is to get a timepiece that will last for years and years (maybe even something you can pass down). Face it, if you have a phone, you don’t really need a watch, so get something that is more than just someting that tells time.
